Good thing it was foiled. I must also add that the terrorist would probably have been very unsuccesful in attacking the El Al counter due to the fact it is staffed with special anti-Terrorist Israeli people (like you saw at the LAX shooting). What's more, the missile would have probably failed too, due to the fact El Al airlines have counter-missile specifications, and have been being equipped for some time by the Israeli government. Additionally, every pilot in El Al is a former member of the Israeli Air Force (like you saw in Kenya)

Yeah.
They do their airlines RIGHT, instead of the way we do.
'Course, we have to worry about being sued and having squishy leftists whining about how the rights of the bad guys are eing infringed.

Interesting. On a professional pilots rumor board I pop in on once in awhile there was someone questioning what the standard El Al angle of ascent/descent on takeoff/landing was. And the poster had what was supposedly a Saudi call sign (noticed by one of the other posters) as their handle. I just saw that this AM, now this. I wonder if they were connected.

Report it to the FBI. Let them decide (I hope you get competent agent(s)).

Tom Daschle is saddened, deeply saddened.

One of the few countries that will accept Israeli passports.

The funny thing is that most leftists in the Israeli parliament support Israel's security measures.

One of my friends told me that he and his wife were planning a trip to Thailand. I warned him that there was an al Qaeda presence there--and he looked at me as though I was nuts. He said, "The Thai people are so peace-loving." I pointed out that al Qaeda wasn't.

...someone questioning what the standard El Al angle of ascent/descent on takeoff/landing was

That would be 'plane specific', as opposed to airline specific.

Exactly. One would think terrorists would know better than mess with El Al.

The best explanation I can see is that every one in Israel has served in the IDF, and that most of the parliament members have reached officer rankings in the IDF and they know that security is important.

I agree. Just a W.A.G , with out knowing the specs on any variant of SAM ,I would say the area of concern is the airspace say FL200 and below. I still have a hard time imagining how in any widebody airliner type you could "cut your signature and pull the nescessary 3.5+g turn to evade"
A former Boss (AF FACpilot) told me that "you have a prayer , .......providing you saw the launch"

"They do their airlines RIGHT, instead of the way we do. "

I think they said that we look for weapons and they look for terrorists.

Far cry from what we do here.
'Course, some of our most moronic liberals served in the military, and that didn't change their views any.
I guess there really is a 'thinking gap' in the way we do things as opposed to the way others do the same activity.

Some people just don't get it. The terrorists aren't going to stop until we capture or kill them. Making nicey-nice with them won't work.

Glad you warned your friends, even if they don't heed the warning.

That would be a good thing.
Looking for fingernail clippers doesn't guarantee a safe flight.
Looking for someone who would turn a plane into a lawn dart would make for safer flights.
Wish we did that here.
But that's not PC.
*snort*
We're going to pay for that for a very long time.

Did they catch a 90 year old lady with a pair of nail clippers? (/sarcasm)

No, she had knitting needles. She told authorities was gonna make an afgan.

The generally accepted theory is that the terrorists would try to take down one of the larger aircraft, for obvious reasons....the small should mounted SA missiles would take out an engine..akin to a bird strike, and NOT do significant damage to the wing...thus the plane should be able to execute an emergency landing..

"I guess there really is a 'thinking gap' in the way we do things as opposed to the way others do the same activity."

For example, I'll bet the Thai security forces have no qualms whatsoever about investigating a furtive-looking raghead loitering around the El Al counter...
