"In the context of reunion, maybe. But otherwise, why?"

Literalist, legalistic Roman. I was kidding, S! :)

How thoughtful of you! Thanks so much.

And may I say how wonderful it was to read your personal essay. Good luck with Nursing!

Did you write that stupid thing you posted?

Or was it copied from DU or Al Jazeera?

Dear Kolokotronis,

Okay. I guess this literalist, legalist Roman had taken Agrarian's question seriously, and was interested in the serious thoughts of others in response to the question.

Not only am I a literalist and legalist Roman, but I'm a very practical Roman, as well. While folks are ascending into the heavens at the thought of returning the Hagia Sophia to the Ecumenical Patriarch, I AM wondering about the actual costs and who will pick them up. Perhaps the approximately 2,000 Orthodox who comprise the See of Constantinople?

Some folks blow past this question as if it's an afterthought, and maybe it really isn't much of a concern, afterall. Or maybe it is. I imagine that the costs could be very great, but I really don't have enough knowledge about the situation to really know. That's why I was interested in Agrarian's question, and to answers thereto, that I might learn from folks better informed than I am.

That's exactly the origin of the name "Istanbul" that I have always heard, as well.

I'll stick with my missing-teeth origin. It has deeper truth.

One incisor missing: Konshtuntunpul
Incisor and front: Unshtununpul
Incisor and both front: Ushtunpul

etc.

And of course "is tin poli" - is pure Greek.
