I've heard this argument before. To sum up the argument goes "Bibles are a new thing and since Christianity is old, so who needs bibles".

That's not at all what I am saying. You have proven nothing, because your basis is not even true.

You should read your tagline.

You should read your tagline.

It was what the angel told Mary. Perhaps it is a reference to the pronouncement that her soul MAGNIFIED the Lord. This presumes a soul that is free from the stain of sin, otherwise her soul would obscure God's glory.

So no one can praise the Lord unless they are without sin?

That's not what I said at all.

Then what did you say?

One's soul either carries the stain of sin or it doesn't. If it is stained, it will not magnify, it will obscure.

Obviously anyone can praise God. The devil can praise God, but that doesn't change his nature.

I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I hope that you can come up with a better proof than that or Mary being sinless. However, I know that it simply isn't there.

No, the proof is starts in the third chapter of Genesis and continues throughout the Bible.

I probably missed this part of the colloquy, but is it believed that Scripture provides proof that Mary did sin?

You are so right, wagglebee.

Just think how difficult it would have been, before Gutenberg, to lug those Bibles to worship service every Sunday. It would take a small cart. And everyone would need plenty of space to open it up for reference. Obviously, only the upper classes could have one and then they would be on an interminable waiting list to get it.

Yes, those were the days.

Not to mention the fact that even among the upper classes, many (probably most, certainly nearly all women) couldn't read. To believe that God would have allowed this is unthinkable.

It's discussed in the same section where they detail Mary and Joseph's sex life and all of the children they have.

Thank you for the apology.

Just so that I don't seem to be 'ignoring' you, I wanted to respond one last time.

I cannot "act in the position of the moderator" ... I can neither ban you, nor delete your posts, nor admonish you in any 'official' (read: meaningful) capacity. All I can do is use my FR-granted privilege (and I am fully appreciative of this privilege) to speak up for someone who, in my opinion, was being treated with disrespect. In my post 234 (specifically, last sentence of the first paragraph; the sentence which begins with the word "however"), I attempted to explain my reasons for singling you out ... unfortunately, as you are still apparently quite puzzled by this, it would seem that my inability to express myself is at fault.

In light of this, and most importantly, with respect to Sandyeggo's request that the matter be dropped, this will be my very last post on this subject in open forum. If you feel strongly that you'd like to continue the discussion, I am open to doing so by FR mail, if you wish. If not, that's fine, too.

Again, I appreciate and accept your apology.
