Gentiles also means Christians.
It does not.

The dictionary says it does. See gentile.

Whatever it means, my question still wasn't answered. How did the early Christians treat Gentiles and tax collectors?

"Gentile" is from the Greek for "nation" (the equivalent of the Hebrew goyim). It means "the nations of the world." The identification of "gentile" with "chr*stian" is a popular misconception.

And again, Thomas Aquinas wrote a Summa Contra Gentiles (Summa Against the Gentiles) aimed at non-chr*stians. The best way to understand "gentiles" is "the other," since it always applies to someone else and never to oneself.
