Heaven forbid!

Nobody carrying the 1611 King James Version?

How on earth can they claim to be right with God?

Maybe he expected it to resemble what we read about in the New Testament.

“It was a very causal event. I did see five or six women carrying what seemed to be Bibles, although surely not a KJV!”

(gasp) NO! Not KJV???? OH the huge manatee!

We don’t SPEAK in “thees” and “thous” we don’t read in them either, newer versions are more easily understood and read.

During the “song service,” they sang a chorus repeating more than 40 times

I assume he has no problem singing all four stanzas of the same 400 year old hymnal every Sunday morning for the last 40 years.

Actually, this dunce might listen to the lyrics. It says of God, "You are good, all the time. Lord You are good and Your mercy endureth forever. People of every nation and tongue, from generation to generation, we worship You, hallelujah, we worship You, for You are God!"

I detect an agenda at work here.

You’ve got to admit, “You are good, all the time” is a little lite on meaning. Please at least admit that.

Perhaps. But remembering that “God is good, ALL the time” has gotten me through the last several months, which were quite difficult for our family. ALL the time means in the good times and bad, happy and sad, GOD IS GOOD. His mercy endures forever.

Here are the full lyrics. Which part do you object to?

______________________________________

God is good all the time
He put a song of praise in this heart of mine
God is good all the time
Through the darkest night, His light will shine
God is good, God is good all the time

If you’re walking through the valley
And there are shadows all around
Do not fear, He will guide you
He will keep you safe and sound
‘Cause He’s promised to never leave you
Nor forsake you and His Word is true

Chorus

We were sinners - so unworthy
Still for us He chose to die
Filled us with His Holy Spirit
Now we can stand and testify
That His love is everlasting
And His mercies - they will never end

Chorus

The agenda I perceive is one of exposing unbiblical crap that passes for church in many buildings. His comments on the KJV is not the centerpiece; I dare say many people carry books that have the word “Bible” printed on them but bear diminishing resemblance on the inside to what He directed to be written - perhaps The Living Bible or The Message (gag).

Part of the lyrics of that song are absolutely right on - perhaps all of them. But the repetition of a phrase for many times (if it was 40, it would have been at Saddleback) is vain.

Let me guess. The people who go to these services all have sticker book collections.

Better tell that to the cherubim and seraphim who surround the Lord and say that 24/7.

Sorry, there is an agenda here. I don't care for WC, but this guy went in trying to "expose" stuff that he actually hated. It wasn't an open-minded visit to see what they do.

I think it’s a different song, from “The Gospel” soundtrack (also re-done by Lincoln Brewster, called “You are Good, All the Time.” Either way, the songs are fine and prais the Lord. This guy just had an axe to grind.

I have no problem with casual clothes to church (within reason). I have no problem with something other than 17th or 18th century hymns for worship music, as long as the lyrics are scripturally sound. I only have a real problem if a church is not regularly, properly, and accurately teaching/preaching the Bible.

Seems like I saw an article some time back in which Hybels admitted the "Willow Creek" model had essentially failed to evangelize and disciple people. I wonder if anything's changed in his sermon content.

Hey, Dr. Boys, if you didn’t like Willow Creek, don’t ever attend a Promise Keepers event!

**Nobody carrying the 1611 King James Version?

Or at least, have some kind of Bible.
