There is a Pastor here in Maine, that is known for his outspoken fundamental preaching, one of the things he is constantly telling folk is that “words have meanings”.
I just asked him about what you said: “I heard from religious authorities that the ‘cult’ of radical Islam [that believes in suicide/homicide/killing missions ‘for allah’] is considered idol worshiping.”
His answer: “Worship of anything but the Trinity, is idol worship”.
So, I would say that you are right.
