So would you then say that Mormons, Muslims, Hindu, Budhists etc “render to God the worship and service he deserves”? They are after all “religious”.

Unnecessary for what?

>>Like the rest of James, it is talking about how people who are saved act. Not encouraging works righteousness.<<

So you are saying that salvation comes first? That a person is saved prior to any works?

Maybe I misunderstood what you said?

All I know is that we all “have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God (His perfect standard)” and must have Jesus own righteousness to save us!

Nope. That definition of “religion” is rather sloppy at best. Unless of course you want to include Muslims, Mormons, Hindu etc. in your “religion” somehow.

Yours? YOPIOS?

You still haven’t addressed what it is that saves. Only what one does to show they are saved.

We are agreed on that point. Read Post #56. That is what I was saying. Not that we all start out saved, but we all have the grace for faith.

No, they are works of people of faith. No one is saved till he comes before the Judge — if then. Jesus is quite clear when the ticket to heaven is issued.

Yup.

Any works before salvation are filthy rags. It says so in the Bible. Check it out!

John 5: 24 “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

You need to throw that English Standard Version or whatever erroneous version your using in the trash.

Colossians 1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:

Now let’s look at a word for word transliteration of the Greek in the order they are in the Greek.

Colossians 1:24 Now I rejoicing in the sufferings for you and I am filling up that which is lacking of the tribulation of Christ in the flesh of me the body of him which is the church.

Notice the “lacking of the tribulation of Christ in the flesh of me”. You stand corrected again. Feel free to have the last word.

>> The grace that allows faith is given to everyone. Read Titus 2.<<

That is not what that verse is saying.

Look at the entire chapter. Paul is telling Titus what lifestyle will allow the grace of God to “shine forth” or appear to all men. The Greek word used there is epiphainó which means I appear or shine upon. It certainly does not mean that God gave that grace or faith to unbelievers.

"hath been made to appear," or "shine forth" (Isa 9:2; Lu 1:79). "hath been manifested"

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments... “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.”

Nobody was saying that they were the same.

The way that I interpret the verse is that the demons believe because they know that God exists and that Christ is His Messiah.

But it doesn’t follow that they follow Him.

I John 3: 13 Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death.

Well then! We agree! Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone!

There is no belief without consequences. Including good works and obedience to apostolic authority. God is not mocked.

But the verse doesn’t say that. It simply says that the demons believe that God is. They don’t believe on Him nor do they believe that Jesus is the Messiah.

If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
