Very good to know! The next time I pick up a cat ‘wrong’, I’m going to ping you ;-)
I think Donald just rolls his own way; and so far, he’s doing fine!
PING and thank you, Flaming Conservative, I was actually responding to this post when you responded to my earlier post/prayer... !
This TOTALLY makes sense about the spiritual purpose of yoga positions: "If you only know one thing about yoga, know this: every yoga position is a form of worship to one of the thousands of Hindu gods. And lest you think what you dont know wont hurt you, there are sins that may be unknown to a person, but they are sins, nonetheless."
You’re welcome!
It’s so funny to me: Jesus told us repeatedly to *not worry* about silly stuff; yet you seem to be trying to scare the S**T out of people over - Silly Stuff.
You might consider spending your energies on something more important than a few physical exercises that most people perform with nothing more in mind than a salutary health benefit.
Although in the grand scheme there are only two religions. The Godly one, and the other.
What exactly did Jesus say repeatedly about “silly stuff”? LOL.
Do you mean when He said what a man eats or what goes into a man’s stomach does not defile him (i.e. the Kosher or Orthodox Judaism idea about unclean foods) but that “what comes out of a man’s mouth”, i.e. his words, is what defiles him?
Or are you referring to how Christ says we are not to judge like the religious rulers of His day judged, by the “letter of the Law” but rather the intent, or spirit of the Law?
Or are you referring to the Pauline idea of what is sacred to one man, i.e. abstaining from meat because his faith is weak, that the man with greater faith should not condemn this man for not eating meat, abiding by the idea that most meat back then was sacrificed to idols?
I have NO idea what scripture you are referring to about not sweating the small stuff or “silly stuff...” Never heard of it.
But Jesus did say “if a man can be trusted with small things then he can be trusted with larger things” i.e. larger treasure...
Did you just invert this idea of Christ’s somehow?
Weird. Anyway, here is a Christian’s idea of Yoga that I just posted on FR:

Well, I go to church in a gym. Could probably do yoga and worship at the same time.
G’nite, dear.
You asked, I answered. God bless you too, dear.
I know how to answer this question as to whether or not Yoga is a religious Hindu ritual.
Let them try to have a Yoga class in a Mosque.
LOL
1 Corinthians 9:26-27
Therefore I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight like I am beating the air.
No, I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
The book of Proverbs has warnings about picking up the wrong kind of ‘cat’.
I don’t personally have a house of prayer. I pray in my car on my way to work. I pray while mowing my lawn. I pray in my house, at home bible studies, with family and friends at restaurants and, oh yes, at church. But I see “church” as a meeting of “the church” in a building we happen to call a “church”.
When we leave it, it is just a building, as are all buildings in which I meet other people.
I think this is why some churches, even though they are large, meet in large schools, etc. and set up and tear down every Sunday - so people don’t focus on a building or particular place regarding our creator and savior.
BTW, I see the phrase “holy land” as just a label for where a lot of events took place. I don’t literally see it as “holy”.
I see the “holy church” as the body of the believers, not the buildings they meet in.
Everything he did and said was in preparation of the new covenant, signed, sealed and delivered by his blood and resurection. So our age is based on his words, which were a completion of the old covenant and foundation of the new.
This is why he used past tense in that phrase about tithing, IMO.
It’s hard to infer from a few posts on a website exactly what I mean in my statements. A real meeting of the minds usually requires some face to face dialogue or many chapters in writing that bring detail to each subtle point. :)
Some of it is carried right over into the Church and is applicable to us today: not abolished, but fulfilled.
I agree.
When I talked to people about this a lot I used to compare the old and new covenants to a lease with a purchase option. The old covenant is the lease and the death and resurrection of Christ is the completion of the purchase option. The entire contract/covenant was “completed” at his resurrection.
Coming at this discussion from a non-denominational Christian perspective, this is what I believe. The church isn't the building, the church is the people.
Guessing my Catholic friends would feel much differently on this topic and after having visited some of the oldest Catholic churches in Germany some years ago I imagine I would too..
There is no religion in yoga for you because you're not doing it as an affront to God in your heart.
I've been through four major lower back surgeries. Guess what helped me recover most of my range of motion? You guessed it: Yoga types of stretching which I was taught in physical therapy. Didn't know diddly squat about Yoga at the time and there's just no way I was practicing any type of alternative religion while doing it.
Now if I had it in my mind and heart I was doing it as an affront to God, that's another matter entirely.
God knows what's in our hearts and combined with accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior that' the most important thing, IMO.
Of course there will be others that come along on this thread and will tell me I'm wrong and I'm happy to read their opinions.
For Catholics.
