It’s a very sobering thought.

Try to follow the thread...
..............
It wasnt 2011 or 1844 but this time we really, really mean it...Really..............
This is plainly speaking of the rapture, Peter did not tell us that we were going to be taken up in a rapture with out dieing.
We do not scoff at what Peter said we just believe some churches are adding a lot to make a sensation.
One of the oldest Anti-Prophecy tricks in the book if you really believe it wasn’t until 1844 that Rapture talk started.
Actually, Paul talked about the Rapture in the 1st Century (60’s)
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17).
John did later in the 90’s.
“Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth” (Revelation 3:10).
Irenaeus, a 2nd Century Cleric, believed in the Rapture too. Along with the reign of the Anti-Christ. Well after Nero, the favorite A/C choice among Preterists.
Cyprian (3rd Century) is quoted in various texts as referring to the Rapture.
Ephraim the Syrian as well.
And lastly, even Peter himself talked about enduring patiently for our blessed hope, the Rapture:
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2nd Peter 3:9
Actually, Paul talked about the Rapture in the 1st Century (60s)
Paul spent the last 23 verses in chapter 15 of i Corinthians to explain that no one is going to be raised except they die first.
51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised
Paul is not saying we will not all die, if he did he would be contradicting himself, he is just saying we will not all sleep in death but will be changed at the instant of death.
Believe what you wish to believe. The Rapture is an imminent event that needs nothing to signify it’s occurrence. Paul was encouraging Christians to not worry about those who had died in Christ already previously. They’d precede those of us alive still when the last trump calls.
For those who have eyes & ears, it’s pretty clear that not only Paul, but Jesus Himself, Peter, and John all preached a Rapture. Heck there’s even Psalm 83:3 that talks about the Lord’s “hidden one’s” who the enemy can no longer torment because He’s taken them away.
Those of us who Hope in Christ’s Blessed Hope, will continue to look up as this world gets closer and closer to being destroyed - along with 95% of the world’s population.
If you are truly Born Again, I’d imagine you’ll be quite pleasantly surprised at the outcome of all of this once it transpires.
Believe what you wish to believe.
But the scripture says we have to die a physical death.
” If you are truly Born Again, “
Yep, would`nt it be nice if we could just be sure but i believe it is kind of like the Pharisee and the sinner at prayer.
