The brothers were brothers in faith — the apostles.
**Jesus refused, saying, I am not yet going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come (v. 8). However, only a few verses later Jesus went up to the feast (v. 10).**
Key word — YET and “for my time has not yet fully come”
Jesus knew everything. He knew what to do and when, how and why to do it.
You began with the personal attack.....then shifted over to profanity.
If you cannot see that...then there isn't much I can do to help you.
But it continues to confirm my observations of Roman Catholics on these threads.....very think skinned in these discussions.
Perhaps the caucus threads would be better suited for you.
I don't know why you're suggesting I'm "thin-skinned." I'm hanging in here, asking my clear question in a manner that is, if not civil, at least in the same county.
However, I'm about to lose interest, so you can call that "thin-skinned" if it makes you feel good about yourself. I'm all about gaslighters' feeling good about themselves.
Wow....the Roman Catholic indoctrination is deep in you.
The context though shows you're understanding is wrong.
Remember....context if your key to understanding the Scriptures.....but as Rome has not formally explained this passage, I'm not sure how you can really understand what it means.
1After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him. 2Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was near.
3Therefore His brothers [His brothers from Joseph and Mary. These are not His apostles/disciples as they're about to be mentioned] said to Him, Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see Your works which You are doing.
4For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known publicly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.
5For not even His brothers [from Joseph and Mary....not His disciples] were believing in Him.
6So Jesus said to them, My time is not yet here, but your time is always opportune. 7The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil. 8Go up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast because My time has not yet fully come. 9Having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.
10But when His brothers [from Joseph and Mary....not His disciples] had gone up to the feast, then He Himself also went up, not publicly, but as if, in secret.
Can you show a Bible verse that says anyone other than Jesus is a child of Mary?
I've not provoked a fight. You started it in your post 93 and continued in your post 98.
Seems to me you're the one who is provoking the fight.
I already have.
Can you show me a verse that says Mary ever washed her clothes?
Okay, my bad, you’re the victim of provocation, big man, and I’m Jezebel.
Where are your Bible verses that cover this situation, again? I’m waiting.
No, you have verses that discuss “brothers” and “sisters” of Jesus. None of them says Mary is the mother of others.
The context of the passages...along with the Greek...make it clear Joseph and Mary had children of their own.
I will admit the NT does not say Joseph and Mary had sex on Tuesday resulting in a child being born. It doesn't have to.
What you have to keep in mind is the focus of the NT is on Jesus....not His brothers and sisters....not Mary.
It's on Him.
That’s right. The New Testament is about Jesus.
I think.....love one another should cover it.
I have vigorous discussions with my sons and daughters all the time, including French vulgarity, and I love my sons and daughters. Articulate people mix it up just as a language exercise; what else were you going to do to pass the time.
If you think the little old grand multipara housewife is the exemplar of mortal sin, you should meet Tom the Son, 6’4”, 275#, hair to his shoulders, dripping blood, and a snake in a pillowcase.
Athanasius is his Confirmation patron, Athanasius contra mundum.
Paul seems to have a different take on what you suggest.
But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Colossians 3:8 NASB
Articulate people mix it up just as a language exercise; what else were you going to do to pass the time.
Perhaps get out that book that Roman Catholics claim ya'll gave to everyone and read it.
You say you’ve read the Bible, but you say St. Paul didn’t have arguments that included strong words? Hysterical.
I don't find any Greek vulgarities in his writings of which you brag about in your french vulgarities with your family.
3But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;
4and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
5For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Ephesians 5:3-5 NASB
Good night. It’s been fun.
I hope you have a good night.
Planning on it. I have a daughter leaving for Marine Corps boot camp tomorrow.
Please thank your daughter for her service to our country.
