How to Be Strengthened (meditation by David Jeremiah)

My soul melts from heaviness; strengthen me according to Your word.

Psalm 119:28

For defendants, the rule of law makes all the difference. They will be judged according to the law—not according to opinion or vengeance. The law contains provisions and protections, and defendants will be tried and sentenced, or set free, according to the law—that is, based on the provisions written into the law.

That is a helpful way to think about the psalmist’s words in Psalm 119:28: “strengthen me according to Your word.” The Word of God contains provisions and protections for the one who lives by it. The Bible tells us what is true about God—the provisions He has made for our well-being and the protection He offers those who dwell in Christ. Therefore, when we face times of weakness in life, we can be strengthened by reminding ourselves of the promises, provisions, and protections found in His Word (2 Peter 1:4). Like the psalmist, we can be strengthened according to God’s Word.

If you are feeling weak or discouraged today, open God’s Word to the verses cited in this devotional. Meditate on them and embrace the strength God provides.

The work which His goodness began, the arm of His strength will complete; His promise is Yea and Amen, and never was forfeited yet.

Yes, the bitterest enemies of this holy and blessed religion, owe their ability to be enemies to its sacred revelations - to the inspiration and sublimity of that faith which reflects its glories on their hostile natures. Lord God Almighty,

You tell us in Psalm 37:12-13 that the wicked plots against the just and gnashes at him with his teeth....but you laugh! as is written... The Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming..

Again you tell us about yourself in Psalm 2:4 – He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.

Help us to laugh in the face of the ridiculous and insanity of those who are vicious and utterly foolish in their attacks these days, which have well surpassed even being political........and when we can and do remind us that you’re laughing with us!

Let your purposes be fulfilled and your will be done...and may we see victory in the days ahead!

Father God, soften the hearts of the workers of iniquity. May they understand their wickedness, their dismal future, and cease to work for the enemy. May they repent and seek reconciliation with You. May they no longer fight You and all that is good and pure and right. May they surrender.

Oh Father God, help us to end evil at all levels of government. Help us to restore the rule of law and once again, be One Nation Under God. Again, we ask for covering for our dear President Trump, Judge Kavanaugh, and their families.
