I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but I have assurance of salvation. I don’t talk around it, like other people do. You wouldn’t know anyone who talks around it would you?

In general, one does not have an insurance policy by believing one has an insurance policy, nor by telling others one has an insurance policy. One has an insurance policy when one actually has an insurance policy and does not break the terms of that policy.

This sums up assurance rather well:

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I gotta disagree bro. One generally DOES but it’s assurance, not insurance. You randomly generated scripture again, but it appears to me you do not get it. I hope you make it to Heaven. Won’t it be a beautiful experience, to spend eternity with great men like Martin Luther and other great men and women of the reformation? I am 99% sure, that even Mary, the mother of Jesus will be there, but that’s between her and God. I know I will be there, at the risk of committing the sin of presumption. 😇😁😂🙄

Exactly. You can entrust yourself to Christ alone and be saved now. Of course, you will fulfill Christ’s command to be a witness to Him by sharing the Gospel of Grace.

“One has an insurance policy when one actually has an insurance policy and does not break the terms of that policy. “

Impossible to be separated fro the love of God, to be *unsealed* unto the day of redemption, to be *unbaptized* out of the Body of Christ.

I hope you go to heaven FRiend.

You can know now, it you entrust yourself to Him alone.

This sums up assurance rather well:

1 John 5:3

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Do YOU (personal pronoun alert!!) have eternal life?

LOL. There’s altogether too much personal pronouning going on around here. 😁 Hey, I just created a verb out of a pronoun. 👍
In general, I would say people with salvation, know it, and don’t hem haw around about it. If someone (personal pronoun) can’t come right out and say it, then we have to be wonder whether someone (personal prounoun) has salvation at all. Does that sound logical? 😁👍😇

Well, you know that Roman Catholics aren’t allowed to say that they really are saved, despite John the Apostle specifically saying that we can know.

Yet another thing that the fake church in Rome does to control its followers.

I doubt anyone who believes salvation is a matter of "works, works, works" could possibly say they have assurance of their salvation. ;o)

And yet...

I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. (I John 5:13)

I have been thinking that same thing for quite sometime now bro. No matter how eloquently you put it, it just seems to go in one ear, and out the other.

Sometimes we just have to give them up to the Lord and pray they will see their error before it is too late. Some people are very proud of their own piousness, holiness and goodness and it is this pride that prevents them from truly comprehending the awesome gift of eternal life that comes to us through faith alone because of God's matchless grace. They don't GET grace - they think somehow grace must be earned or merited but GRACE means unmerited and unearned. They can't understand that our works of faith and love are a result of the new birth and not the cause of the new birth nor the way to KEEP it.

I know it seems futile sometimes, but keep praying for them and standing up for the GOSPEL - the GOOD NEWS!

Yep. It’s about grace grace grace, not works works works. Works follow grace, but do not cause grace. Works are the result of grace, not the cause of it. I think 1st Corinthians 2:14 applies here. It’s not rocket science, but it itakes a spiritually discerning mind, illuminated by the Holy Spirit, to figure it out.

It seems to me there may be agreement that one is not insured (saved) by believing one is insured (saved). Furthermore, it is not impossible to be cut off, fall away, or to have one's name blotted out of the book of life.

Notice the phrases be not highminded, but fear, take heed, continue in his goodness, work and labor of love, be not slothful, thy works, hold fast, and repent, watch, overcome, and hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches in these passages. They are there for a reason. There were many warnings from the Messiah and His Apostles to the disciples.

Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

...

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

...

And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Unfortunately, you are doing the random verse generation thin again

Can’t really spend time responding to something one didn’t take time to understand before it was posted.

It is not faith that saves. Christ saves those who have believing faith. It is the trustworthiness of the object of faith that determines the outcome.

For instance, anyone who places their faith in the Catholic Church to save them, will fail. Rome saves no one. Zero.

No I do not believe anyone who comes to saving faith in Christ can not be saved. Salvation was never based on any merit in the person and they are now sealed to the day of redemption - by the Holy Spirit as a pledge.

Best.

I disagree with your interpretation bro, like that hasn’t happened before. 😁
Having been a Catholic myself, it seems to me, many Catholics take pride in not having any assurance of salvation. I don’t know why that is. It was never true with me. It was the MAIN reason I left the Catholic Church. I wanted to go to Heaven, and since, as a catholic, I was 💯% sure I was going to that hotter place when I croaked. My wife made me laugh, since English is her 3rd language. She said kick the crockpot. She thought it was that, instead of croak. 😁 Anyway, it didn’t sit well with me, knowing I was a catholic, Hell bound sinner, so I found true faith, as opposed to the false faith I had previously.

Luke 18: 9-14

9He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: 10“Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ 13But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ 14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Thank you for that parable. In it are two Jews in the Temple. One, assured of his salvation, despises others were are not. Another, does not presume to be self assured, but knowing he is a sinner, confesses his sin to God and asks for mercy. Herein is one examination of conscience and confession of sin when there needs to be two.

The Gospel specifically says the parable was told to those who trusted in themselves and nothing about the Vatican style of confession. Nothing about a priest, nothing about having to do penance.

Instead, told to those who think their works can save themselves.

And Confession, because it is in Scripture, is not solely Roman catholic anyways.

I have eternal life, yep.

Dunno why some people think it’s a sin to say so, especially when it’s in opposition to Jesus and the Apostles.
