Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How excellent is Your Name Over All the Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are Holy;
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!

We Come Into Your Presence With Singing,
And Into Your Courts With Praise.

Dear Father, We Thank You for the People
That You Send Into Our Lives to Refresh Us,
People Who Make Our Journey Easier.
We Ask That You Bless Our Nation, Our President, and Our leaders This Holy Week.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem, According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For For Your Wisdom and Discernment to Fill the minds and hearts of PM Netanyahu and his advisers,
That they may make godly and just decisions for Your People.
We Pray for Our Own leaders, in the USA,
That They Walk In Your Will.
We pray for an END to Lies, Slander, Blood Libel,
Propaganda, and Antisemitism.
We Pray For An End to Slavery, Hostage-Taking, and Piracy,
Wherever it is Practiced Around the World.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive brethren,
Christians and Jews, In Bondage in Hostile lands.
We Plead For Israeli Control Over All the Holy Sites in Israel,
So that All Faiths may visit them.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

HALLELUJAH AND AMEN

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It was so awesome that the Tour Group had already gone home, and hubby and I were still in Jerusalem, on our own with a week to go! (I still thank my late M-I-L Ruth, who paid for it!) As you may have gathered from reading this Thread, I LOVE Biblical Archaeology, and so we headed out to the dusty, musty digs to enjoy the parts of Jerusalem that most tourists would rather avoid.

First, we went to the newly uncovered steps by the South Wall. Will the sun blazing upon our heads, we explored the area where the Archaeologists uncovered enclosures for Ritual Baths, Booths for Money Changers complete with scattered currency (from tipped-over tables perhaps?) and other First-Century artifacts dating back to the destruction of the Second Temple. They had to dig deep to find these, because Jerusalem has been destroyed and rebuilt many times since 70AD.

Next, we went to "The Burnt House" which was from the Hasmonean Period. This was older so it was deeper under the street. It was there that I breathed the rank, moldy smell of Jerusalem 45 feet down.

Next we went even deeper and further back in time to see Hezekiah's wall which he erected to repel the Assyrians. The smell here was even stronger, but it made sense as we went deeper into the ground and into History.

The City of David "dig" was in its infancy when we visited, but now is a full-blown exhibit. That dig affirms the very Scriptures we are reading today.

Now, when I was walking around on the Mount of Olives, a boy gave me a rose, which I promptly pressed into my pocket-sized KJV and forgot about. When I came home through JFK, I was asked if I was bring back any fruit, plants, food, or flowers. I totally forgot about the rose in the KJV, and when I got home, switched to my much easier to read NIV Study Bible.

A few months later, I open the KJV to read a Psalm in that translation, and YIKES! I smelled the unmistakable odor of "Jerusalem-Down-Under"! Nothing in the world smelled like that. And, what was weirder was that it was sweetened by the smell of roses. SO WEIRD! I opened to Psalms, and there it was, the Rose, blacked with a strange mold and bringing me back to the dig! I was SO upset! Were all the roses in America about to be devastated by an exotic Middle Eastern mold and everybody blaming ME???? Would I be arrested for committing an environmental crime? Would I go down into history like Typhoid Mary, or the jerks who imported Killer Bees, Gypsy Moths, or Kudzu??? I was REALLY upset with myself.

Bleach. Bleach will fix it! Yeah, Bleach! Good! I poured a cup of bleach, stuck the rose in it, and did what I could to cleanse the KJV from the stain. I was like Lady Macbeth or that guy in "The Tell-Tale Heart". Soon the "aroma" was gone, the rose eradicated, and 35 years have elapsed with no agricultural plague being attributed to ME.

I relate this crazy-but-true story to emphasize the great connection being found between History, Archaeology, Science, and the Bible. Every time they did something up, it just affirms the veracity of what we are reading today. I have actually touched it. And Smelled it.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

Morgan Bible - MS M.638, fol. 39r – 13th Century

Upper Half: How, when it was widely known that David was ruling over all of Israel, the Philistines gathered together and went out to seek him. But, the Lord having been consulted, David went ahead to meet them and prostrated them in a great massacre. (2 Samuel 5: 17–20)
Lower left: How David, together with all the people, led the ark of the Lord, laden on a new cart, from the house of Abinadab, whose two sons were leading the cart. David and the people were then playing before it. Yet, when the oxen had kicked and the ark had started to lean aside, Abinadab’s older son put forth his hand and lay hold of the ark. On account of this harshness he fell down there, before the ark, struck by divine indignation. Seeing this, David was saddened and terrified. Fearing to lead the ark to his own house, he carried it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. (2 Samuel 6: 1–11)

_ UT when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.

The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

And David enquired of the LORD, saying
Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
