On a site I visit a poster asked for personal stories about run ins with celebrities. A guy said he ran into Alice Cooper one time & said he was incredibly humble & very nice.
Gotcha.
Amazing I can listen to all the songs and keep playing which ones I like for 8 bucks a month :)
Ah, the modern age :)
Metal?
As in Metallica, whom Jethro Tull beat out for a best heavy metal Grammy in 1989?
:D
Look up the “Along Came A Spider” album before you do anything else.
He’d attend our little Baptist church in Hawaii when he was there, so I’m told.
A #$$#ing guy with a FLUTE!!!!
Dancing on ONE LEG!!!
One doesn’t have to like metal (and I don’t very much) to know that no one understood what metal was yet! :)
Tull is DEFINITELY hard rock and definitely great.
And definitely not metal. Thank God.
I’m trying to think who could be considered metal before it was named metal.
You’re the boss.
He wasn’t all there back then, huh?
Good, if crazy song :)
I will work down the list.
He and his wife (a ballerina in her day) sat behind us at the Ballet this winter. Had a great chat about their friendship with Glen Campbell and his wife. Glen had died and Cooper gave some great interviews I complimented him on.
I saw Cooper and Tull at the same venue albeit at separate times.
Cool.
Where?
I do believe you are correct!
Not surprisingly, though, the way these things often go, the name was eventually attached to the lead singer.
WOW!!!!
I love all things rock.
Played the drums at 10 and was in bands. Learned chords and then songs from the guitarists.
I thought I knew a lot.
I don’t :)
Now I have to look up the origin and why they chose that.
Ive seen Alice several different places but always saw Tull at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Ive seen BOC all over the place.
Although Welcome 2 My Nightmare was supposed to be the sequel to WTMN original, Along Came A Spider is actually the natural successor to the Steven/Spider arc.
Its one of my top five AC albums.
Special Forces is another deep cuts great one.
Crest Of A Knave was a great album.
Although Steel Monkey got the most airplay Jump Start is by far my personal favorite cut.
Tull defies definition and fits neatly in no box.
That is why Ive loved it for 40 years.
:)
Im in the car with it jamming on the iPod right now.
That’s awesome :)
Aqualung is Definitely one of the best rock songs ever.
boy were they raw. And the drummer scared me when I was a kid lol
I shall listen to a lot of Tull and Cooper tonight. Liking it.
Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchenr,Ontario,Canada in the 70s
Are you not aware that rock music and a Christ-following lifestyle do not mix?
Here is a lengthy discussion of The Character and Philosophy of Rock Music (click here). Cooper is mentioned in this article:
Alice Cooper was conscious of the rebellion he encouraged in young people: If I were a kid, Alice would be my hero. Hes a rebellion symbol. He doesnt have to answer to anybody (Circus, Aug. 24, 1976). Rebellion is the basis for our group. Some of the kids who listen to us are really deranged; but they look up to us as heroes because their parents hate us too much (Circus, February 1972, p. 61).I would think that to live a Christian lifestyle, one would abandon any connection with a past in that world of people given over to sensuality and rebellion to godly morality, which is essentially Satanic in nature.
Is that not absolutely clear and without argument whatsoever for you?
