Pete Buttigieg Again Claims Bible Says Babies Can be Aborted “Up to Their First Breath”
LIFE NEWS ^ | Nov. 21, 2019 | Micaiah Bilger

Democrat presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg insisted again this week that he can be a Christian and support abortion on demand.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, the South Bend, Indiana mayor tried to justify his stance by claiming the Bible associates “the beginning of life with breath.”

The Washington Examiner reports Buttigieg has been accused of “cherry-picking” biblical teachings on a number of issues. He responded to the accusations by claiming the Bible is “inconsistent internally” and Christians have to make their own sense out of it.

“Well, I think for a lot of us — certainly for me — any encounter with Scripture includes some process of sorting out what connects you with God versus what simply tells you about the morals of the times when it was written,” he told the magazine.

“And to me, that’s not so much cherry-picking as just being serious, because of course there’s so many things in Scripture that are inconsistent internally, and you’ve got to decide what sense to make of it,” Buttigieg continued. “Jesus speaks so often in hyperbole and parable, in mysterious code, that in my experience, there’s simply no way that a literal understanding of Scripture can fit into the Bible that I find in my hands.”

On the issue of abortion, Buttigieg said he believes the Bible does not recognize the beginning of life until the first breath is taken.

“There’s so many parts of the Bible that associate the beginning of life with breath,” he said, reiterating a similar statement he made in September.

At the time, he told “The Breakfast Club” that abortion “is obviously a tough issue for a lot of people to think through morally. Then again, there’s a lot of parts of the Bible that talk about how life begins with breath, and so even that is something that we can interpret differently.”

Interestingly, abortionist and convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell used a very similar biblical argument to defend infanticide in 2015.

“I think it’s Genesis 2:7, expresses the breath of life as the beginning of life that God breathed breath — breathed life — into Adam. The Bible, to me, is very clear that life does not happen until breath,” Gosnell said, defending himself as innocent in a documentary about his crimes.

Buttigieg’s biblical justification for abortion has been called out as absurd by his own family and many others. Even in ancient times, babies in the womb were viewed as valuable, as is evident in Luke 1:41. Jesus placed great value on children when others in society did not in Matthew 19:14, and Proverbs 6:16-17 states that one of the things God hates most is the shedding of innocent blood. One of the ten commandments prohibits murder.

Buttigieg is no moderate on abortion. As mayor of South Bend, he tried to stop a pregnancy resource center from opening down the street from an abortion facility. Then, earlier this year, he celebrated when an abortion chain that amassed dozens of health and safety violations opened a new location there.

In May, when asked about abortions in the third trimester, Buttigieg said he thinks they should be legal and unrestricted.

Funny how he never addresses homosexuality as an abomination in the sight of God.

How about we legalize aborting Democrats to the 84th trimester, post-partum? The procedure would be simple. Would only involve a bullet in the back of the head, and a ditch...

He has said publicly several times that God created him, created his lust for men, so how dare anyone judge him!!

He also says if you don’t knuckle under to his demonic, evil interpretations of the Bible, that you really aren’t a Christian, he’s the real Christian.

Exo 21:22  If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
Exo 21:23  And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

This Satanic beast must not become President. If he does, I expect G-d to remove any protection for this nation.

this SODOMITE does NOT care!

just like sodom and gomorrah- they hated God and their neighbors-(asking Lot to bring out the Angels so they could rape them)

He is lost to satan, and knows that- just trying to justify his existence - for his VERY short time on this earth-

I would pray for his soul - but this guy is Evil and leading children into sin- somebody mail him a millstone!

A) Prayers up for you to have a better day tomorrow.

B) Do tell, Pete. Preach to us what The Bible says about homosexuality.

I am barely a nominal Christian, but why on earth would anyone believe that Sodomite? He is a vile excuse for a human being. What does his and his partners acts of procreation provide us with.

Think about it!

Let the act become quite visible in your minds eye. And we should listen to him on abortion because ......?

If life is defined as the first breath, someone needs to let Buttigieg know that Obstetrics and Perinatology textbooks (and a simple internet search for ‘fetal breathing’) clearly describe fetal breathing movements observable on ultrasound as early as 10 weeks.

If you have ever watched an obstetric ultrasound being done, you know that fetal breathing is one of the things they try to document, especially after 24 weeks, but also earlier.

Did Buttigieg inadvertently proclaim that life begins at 10 weeks in utero?

All abortion supporters would have been against their very own selves being aborted.
