Amen.
IF you really agree with this then Mary is not necessary.
But He has willed it.
Similarly, He created us without us, but He will not save us without us.
I cannot save you.
I can share the Gospel with you and pray you come to a saving faith in Christ...and only Christ....but it will not be me who saves you.
No, they do not come right out and say Mary is divine.
ealgeone, at this point I would like to say that I also appreciate our cordial conversations.
As you know, I have for some time now been researching you references to determine whether they hold up, and in many cases, they do, which I readily acknowledge. I was amazed to learn that there is an effort to add a fifth Marian doctrine, and I hope there is never an “opportune” time to do it.
And where I cannot find support for your conclusions, I post a response. I cannot find any support for the conclusions that the writers assert that Mary is equal to God, that divinity is within her outside of God, or that she could exercise on her own any of the things attributed to her by the writers. The writers state that it is only through God that Mary is given these attributes.
I must acknowledge one thing. Liguori and Montfort do refer to Mary as divine, in the context that we are unworthy to directly receive from God anything divine, and must receive them through Mary, who is the one creature worthy to receive that which is divine.
So while I acknowledge that the authors refer to Mary as divine, they do not assert that these divine things come from within her. Rather, their assertion is that the abilities and actions that are attributed to her come externally from God.
However, I still have not found anything in the writings that elevates Mary to a position equal to or greater than God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
If I do find or am made aware of any such thing, I will vehemently disagree with it.
Peace, Rich
But if you pray for me, you'll help! Because...
