EASY!!! One is INNOCENT and one is GUILTY of a SERIOUS CRIME!
Thank you for this post. I’m Catholic and never had Rom. 13:4 explained to me. It all makes sense now. Even at 58, I am still learning.
Because the Word of God endorses it.
Genesis 9.6 and Romans 13 are very specific on the subject.
What is the new testament scripture that appears to stand against it?
Though I pray that God leads me in every facet of my life, my opposition to abortion does not rest on religious grounds.
My very hard core stance originated in the first ultrasound taken of my first child, my son. He was as alive at 7 weeks gestation as he is today. Killing him then would have removed him from our world as surely as killing him now.
There is no argument that justifies the systematic taking of lives. There is no argument that justifies the assassination of children. And that is EXACTLY what abortion is. The woman literally pays someone to kill her undesired offspring. It is murder, it is assassination. It is wrong, it is unjust, and it is amoral.
Without capital punishment, Jesus would not have been sent to the cross. The Lamb of God would not have been sacrificed for the sins of the world. In that case, God used it as a tool to save the world.
However, there are many places in scripture that detail God’s view of evildoers and His judgements upon them, including death.
A criminal justice system as fouled up and corrupt as ours doesnt even have the moral authority to put people in jail, let alone execute them.
Read Genesis Chapter 9 verse 6 for your answer.
Killing of the guilty is OK’d in the scriptures. Killing the innocent is not.
Some people say that capital punishment is not a deterrence. I challenge anyone to show me an example of someone who was executed for murder, murdering someone else after sentence was carried out. It is a big deterrence. Bible says God hates “hands that shed innocent blood.” Proverbs 6:17. Big difference.
Easy. I support capital punishment for those who murder innocent babies.
I am fine with capital punishment provided it is carried out in the biblically prescribed manner. The accused must be confronted by at least two eye witnesses to the crime who must stake their own lives on the veracity and accuracy of their testimony. They were also required to have warned the accused that s/he was about to commit a capital crime. Circumstantial evidence is not admitted in Scripture.
As a Christian AND Conservative, Im against both.
If you are for either, you are neither.
Because God instituted it.
If He’s OK with it, then I’m not complaining.
Besides, it IS pro-life to protect people from evil that would seek to destroy lives.
It was explained on FR before as the difference between guilt and innocence.
“If we execute murderers and there is in fact no deterrent effect, we have killed a bunch of murderers. If we fail to execute murderers, and doing so would in fact have deterred other murders, we have allowed the killing of a bunch of innocent victims. I would much rather risk the former. This, to me, is not a tough call.” - John McAdams, Marquette University/Department of Political Science, on deterrence
