Having considered all of the information you’ve laid out, cloudmontain, why, SPECIFICALLY, do YOU THINK we as Catholics fast pre-Communion?
This song provides an answer, and though it seems tongue in cheek, it is in the end most valuable upon reflection

There are deeper answers, but in many ways this is often a good one.
Get a life.
Why arent you demanding that people must kneel at a communion rail too?
You are worse than a Pharasee
I go along with the flow of the Church since the Church has been doing this for some 2,000 years. It doesn't matter to me which it is.
There USED to be Holy Communion only ONCE a year.
It USED to be fasting for THREE hours.
Someday, the fasting may INCREASE or DECREASE. The Living Magisterium has the authority to make the changes.
WHY are you so interested in people's opinions about this ONE item? Why does it matter to you so much? You remind me of another poster who is OBSESSED about something. Lol. I've even forgotten why he had a bug up his butt. :o)
Rules, laws and customs come and go. If you can't learn to deal with them sanely then your life will have many bumps.
PAX TIBI.
I’m not demanding anybody to kneel or receive in the paw.
But I am questioning why priests and bishops are violating my right, per canon law, to receive Holy Communion on the tongue.
And what in the heck is “Pharasse”?
Such modernism! Let's just ignore the "past" magisterium and just "go with the flow" as you describe it.
That is not what the "Church has been doing for some 2,000 years", it's only what the modernists have been doing for the past 55 years. Yet some are too foolish to see it.
I want to know if you are in any way curious about the rationale for the rule in the first place, or if you are willing to surmise why the rule exists.
Awesome. Thx.
The Popes Endorsement of Argentinas Amoris Guidelines: What It Means
On the Popes personal instruction, the 2016 Buenos Aires bishops guidelines on Chapter 8 of his post-synodal apostolic exhortation, Amoris Laetitia, appeared last week in the Holy Sees journal of juridical record, the Acta Apostolicae Sedis (AAS). The interpretation permits the sacrament of reconciliation and Holy Communion in some cases for remarried divorcees who, for example, try to live lives of sexual abstinence but must continue to live together for the sake of raising their children.
Will you "go with the flow"?
Or will you resist "the flow" as Cardinal Mueller is:
But Cardinal Müller, the prefect emeritus of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has expressed some reservations, telling the Register Dec. 6 that he finds it disturbing the Holy Father would declare an interpretation of a group of bishops as almost infallible teaching.
Wow. Great info, ET.
FINAL NOTE
The only ones to communicate always standing and with their hands outstretched were from the beginning the Arians, who obstinately denied the Divinity of Christ and who could not see in the Eucharist any more than a simple symbol of "union," which can be taken and handled at will. Millions of present day Catholics including many prelates and priests, have been practically converted to Arianism, a great heresy lasting from the fourth to the seventh century.
“Did you note:

_____
I did. Who wants to be associated in any way with that historic freakshow, Arianism?
Since GOD gave us the Ten Commandments, NOT the ten suggestions, I KNOW why God gave them to us. It is because that is the way HE wants us to live. He loves us, wants us to be with Him...so we do what He wants.
Since our earthly laws REFLECT those COMMANDMENTS I believe that the rationale is that they are for our safety, protection and abilities to survive and thrive.
There would be no other sane rationale for the rules. When you finally pass away see if you can get God to explain it to you.
I get it but you don't seem to.
Cloudmountain, I wonder about you. I’m glad you are Catholic but I think you may be too quick to find fault. You definitely appear to be engaging in rash judgment when it comes to me. You know that’s not good, right?
Lol. And here you are, right on the tail of finding fault with ME telling me MY faults.
Thanks for making me chuckle
Lay Catholics of all ages are obliged to continue to grow in knowledge of the faith. I have the sense that I can help you with that in at least some small way. A sharp elbow now and then I can contend with, but I’ll typically change course and move on if I find myself running up against a hard heart. If the shoe fits, wear it. If it doesn’t, by all means, don’t. Peace be to you.
Lol. You have "the sense" that you can help me?
Hahahahaha.
Oh, my, that was a good one. Thanks for the laugh.

You realize, I trust, that by choosing to laugh last, you’ve left me the last substantive word.
