Once more your response exceeds the page parameters and leaves me having to deal with it the only way I know how. multiple carriage returns to stay within the normal boundaries so horizontal scrolling is not required.

HMMMmmm…

I do not know what type of device you are using, but it sounds as though you have accidently turned WORDWRAP OFF.

Spell Preview Post I have already previewed or do not wish to preview this composition.

I agree completely with the word sparingly I agree completely with the word sparingly

So you just have trouble within the way it is used in the phrase?

Would a verse from the Bible would make more sense to you?

1 Timothy 4:3 King James Bible Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Well; if you do not wish to please GOD; I guess that is your right.

The Gospel of John chapter 1 gives the reader no choice.

It says in the beginning was the Logos or Word and the Word was with God and the word was God. At verse 14 it says “and the WORD was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.

So God Word became also GOD IN FLESH WORD and dwelt amongst us. Jesus is God in flesh. That is why he proclaimed so boldly at the risk of being stoned...”Before Abraham was.... I AM “ It was the same name God the Father thru the burning bush used for himself when Moses asked “What is your name?”

There is no other choice a reader can make....Jesus is God...He is the thumprint of God projected into our matter universe, yet Jesus was not a drone or a puppet he was a man with a human individuality and was “tested on all points as a man” including his fear of death. Christ said and continues to say...”If you see me, you see the Father for I do the things I see the Father do!”

1st John 4 says that the spirit of Antichrist denies that Christ is come in the flesh. It will deny that the Word/God was ever made flesh! You don’t have to fully understand the reality of Jesus being God...just believe that it is so. Over time God will fill in enough blanks so that an individual has enough indwelt wisdom to be comfortable even joyful with that reality. Did not Isaiah not say of our Christ in Flesh and God as Flesh savior...”He shall be called Emannuel meaning “God with Us”?

Actually many of the comments in this section have convinced me of the truth, that Jesus is God. Thanks for your feedback.

If we have Christ imbedded by the Spirit in our hearts minds and spirits and if our inner man is being renewed daily by the Holy Ghost, then we have the Word which is God imbedded in our lives and have no need of “plates”. We have scripture that merely confirms what our consciences already tell us and therefore have doubly no excuses before God when we do wrong.

We are still in fleshly bodies which will always be prone to temptation and error so we have to “keep after the flesh like a boxer that disciplines himself” to stay in line with God.

It is fortunate that we have been given grace and a place to go when we have erred, so that having stumbled, He who holds the righteous by the right hand will not let us fall head-long!

So; at least I posted FACTS about Mormonism; not a mere, unsupported claim.

I’m sure these various BoM based churches didn’t ALL split because of the color of the carpet.

Of course not, they took issue with the Prophet and a thousand other issues. If the Book of Mormon was not one of them, in concert with your idea the offshoots were BoM based, I don’t see much of an issue, other than the same issue the Reformation uncovered when The Catholic Church came under condemnation.

It was a continuation of man’s interpretation of the way spiritual things ought to be, to include LDS offshoots. It is precisely what happens when continual contact with the heavens is not available, either thru a Prophet of God or personal revelation. Or the concept is rejected by man.

Thus many many different and differing Bible based religions. That too is important in keeping the Gospel of Jesus Christ always before the eyes of mankind at least those who desired his influence in their life prior to the Restoration. That said there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind the reformation leaders were influence by God to accomplish their work prior to the Restoration.

Have I not continually praised you for printing facts from LDS publications?

PS Word wrap is always on. It is quite possible to submit page parameters in a post that exceed those already programmed. When that happens the horizontal scroll bar appears and anyone downstream has to deal with their posts also exceeding the limits which could, depending on the length of the sentence involve a right scroll in order to read the now lengthened sentences.

The only way I know to solve the problem is insert carriage returns to keep your sentence within the original boundaries, and that is somewhat labor intensive. The real solution is had when the next page of posts returns to the original page format. Whenever you see a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the screen you know someone has posted something wider than normal.

Especially visible with hi def pics not reduced to meet the page format.

We are in complete agreement on the issue yet you want to take issue with one sentence in the Doctrine and Covenants and my interpretation, which I will maintain has a bit more validity than yours.

Seems a bit like hair splitting again.

So how about this, the Bible teaches that we must abstain from meats, it’s a fact. I’m sure you can find the reference though out of context.

Doctrine and Covenants

Section 114 http://lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/114?lang=eng

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Far West, Missouri, 17 April 1838 (see History of the Church, 3:23).

Church positions held by those who are not faithful will be given to others.

1. Verily thus saith the Lord: It is wisdom in my servant David W. Patten, that he settle up all his business as soon as he possibly can, and make a disposition of his merchandise, that he may perform a mission unto me next spring, in company with others, even twelve including himself, to testify of my name and bear glad tidings unto all the world.

2. For verily thus saith the Lord, that inasmuch as there are those among you who deny my name, others shall be planted in their stead and receive their bishopric.

Amen.

Sorry to inform the 'faithful'; but Dave died on October 25, 1838

John says a lot of things, but so does the entire Bible. If you want to hang your theory of God on one verse in John you are by nature leaving out much information that could assist you in discovery.

Jesus Christ is NOT “Our Father which art in Heaven”. You make Him out a liar when you make the claim. He is The Son as he said. He does not pray to himself. He is in the image of the Father but not Our Father in heaven. What is so difficult to understand?

In fact you have correctly identified Jesus as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, The great I AM, Jehovah of the Old Testament, the God of Israel, the one Moses spoke with face to face. The one who came to do the will of the Father, as the only begotten of the Father in the flesh.

In Matt 3:17 The Father speaks from Heaven at the Baptism of Jesus saying “this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”. Two separate and distinct personages. Now, if I have misunderstood your premise or what you were attempting to say I apologize in advance.

John 17:1-5
1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

I see...

wish you did.

Frankly, if it was seen as an issue, you would think someone in authority might have said oh, we can’t print that. So, the “faithful” apparently not a problem. So many more important issues in today’s world, worthy of our attention without dredging up history long past when none of us were there, and really have no first hand knowledge of the facts in the case.

Should you choose to view, I will include the link for what the Church has to say on the subject.

Persisting in unchristianlike conduct, W. W. Phelps and John Whitmer had been excommunicated by the high council in Far West, four days previous to the arrival of Joseph.

I guess them missing pages weren't very important at all then; since...

The revelation also forbade Joseph from retranslating the book of Lehi ...

D&C 10
Herein the Lord informs Joseph of alterations made by wicked men in the 116 manuscript pages from the translation of the book of Lehi, in the Book of Mormon.

I wonder why those 'wicked men' never revealed those altered pages?

I wasn’t posting a theory...i was posting what the Bible says...taking into account context. Jesus is God in flesh yet fully man in all respects. His dna was coded in the only way it ever could have been...(wait for it).... were God to have always been matter...which is the mystery and the Truth since the Bible says that Christ existed WITH the Father from the founding of the world. It is what makes Christ the truly unspotted with sin sacrifice worthy to die for our sins. He has no spot or wrinkle of sin. He is God yet he was our human “red heifer” to be that one final sacrifice that ends all animal sacrifices that were to be carried out for the remission for our sins. He is the essence, the very thumbprint of God imbedded into the heart of creation. Indeed, there has nothing that has ever been created that did not have in its cornerstone the image, indeed the very heart of Jesus Christ imbedded into it!. Perhaps that’s what the prophet meant(my speculation now) when he said in part “deep calls upon deep”...”cast your bread upon the waters and after many days it shall be returned unto you!”
