A lot of it goes to social events for the social community. In that sense it is no more charitable than the combination of some Episcopalian WASP donating some to his church and also paying his country club dues.

Completely untrue. I’m a Latter-day Saint and a full-tithe giver. We give voluntarily. There’s no “requirement.”

We especially don’t need to provide our tax forms as proof we’re tithe givers. How exactly do we do so when we have tithing settlement in December but the tax forms aren’t done until April or May? Time travel?

Also, why do you feel the need to lie about my church? Do you have any evidence that we need to provide tax forms that won’t even get produced until months afterward?

AMPU, it’s sad to see you’re still a bigot until now against us Latter-day Saints.

1. not against a single mormon human, but against the heresy of mormonism.
2. God's truth in Scripture contradicts the heresy of mormonism.
3. Adhering to truth is not bigotry.

And yes, during our annual tithing settlement with our pastor (bishop), we are asked whether we’re full tithe payers. If not, then we cannot get a temple recommend.

As I stated. Thank you.

Get your facts right before misrepresenting my church. It’s unbecoming.

My facts are correct as you clarified.

Again, that does not make sense. The IRS (and Canada Revenue Agency here in Canada) classifies monies given to registered religious institutions to be “charity” in the same way donations given to nonreligious organizations like the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Red Cross are “charity.”

Paying a country club membership is NOT a charity since it is a MANDATORY requirement for membership. Don’t pay, you’re out. Not giving to your church is not grounds for getting kicked out of the church.

So, any money I give to my church is “charity” since I’m not forced to give as a condition for membership.

YOu completely miss the point, though make my second point.

Some people fund their social clubs through “donating” to their churches and some people do by paying country club dues.

Both payments end up funding their clubhouses where they socialize, as well, often, as various meals and outings.

Oh, and plenty of Synagogues require payments for seats, memberships, etc. Try being a Mormon without tithing.

Elsie and others have learned not to play word games with me because it does not work. It appears you need to learn the same lesson.

You said, “No temple recommend, no eternity in the presence of God, no future godhood for themselves...”

To which I replied, “you are wrong in claiming not having a temple recommend means we cannot be in the presence of God or we cannot get exalted as the glorified Children of God.

We do CHARITY work for the dead in the temple in all visits after the first one. Only the first time we go do the ordinances apply to us. Only those ordinances matter to us. All subsequent visits are to help those who cannot help themselves in fulfilling Christ’s condition that only those who are born of water and of the spirit may enter the kingdom of God.

So, a Latter-day Saint only needs to go to the temple once to qualify for exaltation and never set foot in the temple for the rest of his life. However, that raises another issue of whether that person developed the traits Christ expects of his true followers - the character of being charitable - and its greatest expression is when someone helps those who cannot help themselves.

Get your facts right before misrepresenting my church. It’s unbecoming.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
So, my position was specific to your LIE above.

Thus, it is DISHONEST for you to claim “My facts are correct as you clarified” when you took my response out of context.

So, is LYING and DISHONESTY part of your religion? Is that acceptable to Jesus Christ, our Lord and God?

I should mention I, forty-fifty years ago, also went to a LDS church for a while.

got in 3 car accident in utah once- and the folks were very accomodating and pleasant- being from a different state that would just as soon spit on a stranger as look at them, i wasn’t used to that-

Later i learned it was smack in mormon country- they have some mandate that they must be charitable from what i understand? part of rising through hte ranks in the church or something

But giving to churches and paying country club dues are not the same thing. And the IRS and CRA recognize this fact which is why they are categorized differently.

There are plenty of Latter-day Saints who don’t tithe. Not one of them is kicked out for not being tithe payers. I, myself, didn’t give tithes for years - nothing happened to my membership. It’s only in the past few years that I started giving tithes again.

Then I suggest you get your facts straight before making statements against my church that are demonstrably untrue.

I am saying they shouldn’t be classified differently exactly because I know that they are.

And it doesn’t really matter whether they are kicked out or not, though there are plenty of Mormon testimonials about what has happened and been threatened to them for not tithing.

The point is that they are largely paying for their socializing through a tax advantaged entity, whereas others simply pay taxes for the cost of their socializing.

Certainly those who use the tax loophole shouldn’t be lauded for their superior “charity” because of it.

“you are wrong in claiming not having a temple recommend means we cannot be in the presence of God or we cannot get exalted as the glorified Children of God.

• The basis of being admitted to the temple is a temple recommend from a mormonic bishop.

• To get a temple recommend from a bishop is based a mormon must answer the temple recommend questions affirmatively.

• Question 13 is : "Are you a full-tithe payer?"

• A mormon will fail to get a temple recommend if he cannot answer that he is a full (10%) tithe payer - as well as answering the other questions correctly.

Only those mormons who make it to the celestial kingdom will live in the Father’s presence (of course it is non-biblical, but we are talking about mormonic doctrines)

"The celestial kingdom is the highest of the three degrees or kingdoms of glory in heaven. Those who inherit this kingdom dwell in the presence of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. In the scriptures, the glory of the celestial kingdom is compared to the glory of the sun."
- from the official mormon website.

.....

So Raymond, what you wrote is incorrect.

As for you teaching Elsie, I doubt it... but I'll let him speak for himself.

Got the info from these sources. We fought the Mormon wars on FR years ago. I can still summon the Flying Inmans.

https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2018/03/26/does-tithing-requirement-for-entry-into-lds-temples-amount-to-mormons-buying-their-way-into-heaven/

https://www.quora.com/Are-Mormons-forced-to-pay-10-percent-of-their-income-to-the-church-or-can-they-be-Mormons-without-donating-money

https://www.tampabay.com/news/why-mormons-are-the-most-likely-to-tithe/1213863/

“Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as the Mormon church is formally known, appear to be the exception. They are required to give 10 percent of their incomes to remain in good standing and almost 80 percent donate, according to a recent poll by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.”

Mormons do charity work for the dead?

Where do you find that in the Holy Bible. You have just confirmed that Mormons is a cult.
