You may be referring to the general requirement of chastity according to one’s state in life, which in the case of single men rewuires total abstention from all secual activity.

So tired of sloppy language among high ranking churchmen. What does “Homosexuality” mean? Is he practicing or is it the orientation? Men who are practicing or who have “deep seated tendencies”, in other words, who are on the precipice of falling into temptation, are not to be admitted to the seminary. Passing homosexual tendencies need to be overcome for at least three years before seminary admittance as the Vatican document states.
Reminds me of other sloppy teaching going up to even the pope himself. Saying the Eucharist isn’t a reward for the perfect but a medicine for the sick. Not for those sick with mortal sin but only venial sin. Receiving the Eucharist in mortal sin can even bring physical sickness upon a person. He also repeated the 70s liberal seminary canard that Jesus didn’t multiply the bread and fish but only got the masses to share what they had on them. This statement of his a few years back was followed a few hours later by an earthquake about 50 miles from Rome.

An older priest of my acquaintance some years ago opined that in the early 20th century, there arose a school of thought that homosexuals would find great solace in the priesthood, and a number of seminaries advanced that model. This elder priest blamed it on modernist-Jesuitical thinking. Was never able to verify it beyond that one priest, tho.

It’s nothing new. In Candide, Voltaire traces the “best of all possible venereal diseases” from Columbus through several sordid encounters, including, if I remember right, a priest and a choir boy. When you forbid very smart people such as priests from ever having sex, you have to look out for the cheaters and punish them when they’re caught. But the modern “troglodytes” want to make it an OK thing, no need for even a confessional after buggering an altar boy after mass. Full disclosure, not Catholic, so just making observation.
Well, I do believe the church has a right to demand chastity if it is the price to be a priest or nun. If they opt to alter that, so be it (I have no position on whether to keep or change it beyond stating they have a right to set the rules on that issue).
Of course, the issue here isn’t really one of marriage, but of allowing one of the most grievous sins as defined by God, to essentially be sanctified. Although I believe the rule on marriage (between man and woman, the only definition under God) could be changed, allowing and sanctifying mortal sin is unacceptable under any circumstances. These individuals want the “church” to become a Sodomite Sex Club and would cease to be Christian in any sense. But the church has both a homosexual problem, but also a Marxist problem. These two are both at odds with Christianity and must be summarily purged if the church (and all of its sects wishing to actually truly be Christian) is to survive.
You, of course, have the same problem within your Jewish faith and its subversive and degenerate interests looking to obliterate it. Of course, the source of both Jewish and Christian subversion comes straight from Satan and his adherents.
