Ah. Got it. I don’t listen to it. I’m a Bluegrass fan.

Faith of our Fathers, Living Still
In Spite of Dungeon, Fire and Sword
Oh how our hearts beat high with joy
When’ere we hear that glorious word

Faith of our fathers, Holy faith
We will be true to thee ‘til death

A Funny Little Story About Hymns and Praise Songs
By Author Unknown
An old farmer went to the city one weekend and attended the big city church. He came home and his wife asked him how it was.
“Well,” said the farmer. “It was good. They did something different, however. They sang praise choruses instead of hymns.”

“Praise choruses?” asked the wife. “What are those?”

“Oh, they’re okay. They’re sort of like hymns, only different,” said the farmer.

“Well, what’s the difference?” asked the wife.

The farmer said, “Well it’s like this … If I were to say to you,
‘Martha, the cows are in the corn,’
well that would be a hymn.

If, on the other hand, I were to say to you,
‘Martha, Martha, Martha,
Oh, Martha, MARTHA, MARTHA,
the cows, the big cows, the brown cows, the black cows, the white cows, the black and white cows,
the COWS, COWS, COWS are in the corn, are in the corn,
are in the corn, in the CORN, CORN, CORN, COOOOORRRRRNNNNN,’ then,
if I were to repeat the whole thing two or three times,
well that would be a praise chorus.”

As luck would have it, the exact same Sunday a young, new Christian from the city church attended the small town church.

He came home and his wife asked him how it was.
“Well,” said the young man, “It was good. They did something different, however. They sang hymns instead of regular songs.”

“Hymns?” asked the wife. “What are those?”

“They’re okay. They’re sort of like regular songs, only different,” said the young man.

“Well, what’s the difference?” asked the wife.

The young man said, “Well it’s like this … If I were to say to you,
‘Martha, the cows are in the corn,’
well that would be a regular song. If on the other hand, I were to say to you,

Oh Martha, dear Martha, hear thou my cry
Inclinest thine ear to the words of my mouth.
Turn thou thy whole wondrous ear by and by
To the righteous, glorious truth.
For the way of the animals who can explain
There in their heads is no shadow of sense,
Hearkenest they in God’s sun or his rain
Unless from the mild, tempting corn they are fenced.
Yea those cows in glad bovine, rebellious delight,
Have broke free their shackles, their warm pens eschewed.
Then goaded by minions of darkness and night
They all my mild Chilliwack sweet corn chewed.
So look to that bright shining day by and by,
Where all foul corruptions of earth are reborn
Where no vicious animal makes my soul cry
And I no longer see those foul cows in the corn,
then, if I were to do only verses one, three and four, and change keys on the last verse, well that would be a hymn.”

From a Christian band, The Swirling Eddies, written by Terry Scott Taylor, one of the greatest song writes of our time IMHO.

This Is the Title

[Verse 1]
I’ve only come up with a few lines
A few lines
Just a few lines
Can only come up with a few lines
I just sang the lines
These are the lines
Hmm...hey, wait!

[Verse 2]
I’m coming up with a few more lines
A few more
Just a few more lines
I’m coming up with a few more lines
I just sang the lines
These are the lines

[Chorus 1]
I could always write a love song
Still it’s better to live it
Better to give it
A love-from-above-like-a-dove song
But that’s a tired cliché
And wait a minute, hey
Everything rhymes, and that’s a few more lines

[Verse 3]
I’ve just about completed this swan song
I need a few more lines
Just a few more
I’ve even changed the chords and tacked a bridge on
The part about the love song
Where I sang about the love song
Gives me even more lines
And these are the lines
And here’s what I need
Someone to play lead

[Guitar Solo]

[Chorus 2]
I could always write a love song
Still it’s better to live it
Better to give it
A love-from-above-like-a-dove song
But that’s a tired cliché
I’ve used it anyway
And everything rhymes, and that’s a few more lines

[Verse 4]
Now I’m gonna end it with additional lines
Make up an ending now
I’ve got an ending
A beginning and an middle and an ending now
Now I will sing you the ending
This is the end
This is the end
This is the end
This is the end
This is the end
This it the end
This is the end
This is the end
(This is the end)
(This is the end)
(This is the end)

I call them 7-11 songs: seven lines repeated eleven times.

IMHO Steve Taylor seemed to direct too much venom at his fellow Christians. A little constructive criticism is healthy, but there comes a point when you need to remember that your fellow Christian is usually not the one trying shut down your faith.

There is a difference between repetitive "praise" music and Contemporary Christian music.

Daniel Amos is a bit too much of a throwback for my tastes. LOL

I want to know what happened to Christ Tomlin. Supposedly his first Christian album was Not of this World by Petra, but you wouldn't know it listening to his music. LOL
