I'm in for $100 today... $700 to Dr. Paul so far for me.

Now it's wait and see. If we have a respectable showing in the Iowa Caucus I'll donate again. If we get a good showing in NH (first place or a strong second or third) I'll make a sizeable donation, and if it's looking good for the good Doctor after NH I'll go to the maximum donation early enough for the campaign to make good use of the money.

I hope my fellow Ronulans will occasionally post today's totals for us dial-up FReepers.

Loved this part of the 12/15 message from Ron...

You and I know our real country -- the America of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, of economic, civil, and personal liberty, of strong families and communities, of great businesses and professions, of strong peace and low taxes and sound money -- all of which are under assault by the politicians who occupy our nation’s capital

“If I were supporting Rue Paul, sure. Tea Bagging is a requirement for support followed by a hit on a bong, and a need for serious psyc meds.

Go Rue Paul. 12 million Tea Bags.”

Better to support a Constitutionalist than a socialist like McRomneyThomiani. Haven’t people figured out that all four of these guys are flip floppers of the highest order without an ideological base? Every word from them is a prequel to changing their mind about any given subject based on “voter opinion polls”.
People are freakin’ clueless, and hypnotized by a guy with nice hair and a love of abortion and gay marriage.

11 hours in and just passed $2 million...wonder why some of the other candidates can’t get this groundswell of support ;) Sure they get money. In $2300 chunks from the elite. But this is the average joe tossing in $100 pops. Because the message is real, it’s honest to God American through and through. And this week according to the new tracker on Dr. Paul’s site, over 6000 first time donors this week so far. Just hope for the ‘frontrunners’ none of those 6000 are in NH or IA. LOL

The bank is looking really well. 13.7MM and counting. Happy for the campaign to meet the 12MM goal.

Having at least 6000 new donors is very encouraging as well. Because the dollars are coming in so fast today, some new donors are not being counted.

My conservative number guess was 2-3MM dollars. Would be fantastic if he hits 5MM today or more.

Mitt will end up writing himself a check around midnight and beat RP by a few dollars to try and steal the RP thunder. LOL

Now here's an interesting observation looking at the numbers as they go up. We can assume the polls are not even close to realistic support for several reasons

A) most pollsters are calling off lists from Republicans of '04 and perhaps '06. Those are the 'likely Republican voters'. From what I've seen personally, the people I've spoken with personally, and the videos we all see on the web, his supporters left long before '04 or '06, or frankly weren't old enough to vote then. These people are not being called.

B)support that Dr. Paul's numbers are not measured in the current system is this very day. By end of day, Dr. Paul will most likely have at least $10 million collected in just two days. This says a couple of things about his support. Not only is it not being measured but it's clear his supporters believe in his message much more strongly than the other candidates. Who is more likely to show up at polls on primary days? A supporter of a candidate who is offering the same ol' tripe or the candidate's supporter who has been out on the streets, handing out material, donating to the campaign, etc.? I can say when I did bother voting the candidates offered the same ol' tripe and I rarely made it down to the polls on primary day

Here's a must-read article about the GOP's Ron Paul dilemma:

Great point. I would like to see how the republicans are doing as a whole with regards to “new registered voters”.

Paul is doing well in the money raising, I hope he is doing well in the registering new voters race who WILL go out and vote.

The name of the game is to beat The Clinton’s. You will be very surprised at the number of college students pro-RP.

The average donation per person is $16 at the moment. The average number of donors per hour and the average cash flow per hour is as well. If one were to hypothesize over the next 10 or so hours left, it will be at least over $5 million, putting Dr. Paul a full 33% over even his own expectations.

I have to admit when I saw the $12 million I was concerned. But this is excellent

Ron Paul will also get a large percentage of the black vote, larger than any other Republican candidate will get.
