Sparks blown eastward from land makes more sense.
Bob Wood? Really.
A comet probably hit Mrs O’Leary in the ass and she kicked over the lantern.
While on the subject of disasters. Here is an interesting link on Superstorm Sandy with video from space and lots of photos. Also lots of photos of other natural/disaster events. Speaking of space, by all means see the movie Gravity. It was recommended by a friend at NASA. Spectacular space shots and weightlessness effects.

Neat. Thanks.
I believe there were some big fires in Michigan at the same time.
Of interesting note, particularly to Catholics, is the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help.
The Sisters from the convent tell the farmers to carry Marys statue around the 5 acre grounds while everyone who had fled there follows and prays. The fire destroys and kills everything in the area but does not touch the 5 acre grounds (convent, school, chapel, Sisters, farm families and herd) except to scorch the fence as the fire passed by.
Fires burned Manistee, Saugatuck, and Holland, Michigan on that day.

Your response knocked me for a loop-—my comment was made 11 years ago.
