Even if you set the abortion issue aside, Giuliani is a terrible candidate, as he is anti-gun and pro-homo.

You cannot win an election as a Republican without the support of conservatives. Conservatives are not going to support a guy like Giuliani in sufficient numbers to elect him, whether you think they should or not. He's off the reservation on too many issues.

Bill Owens strikes me as a better candidate. Have to see what happens with his marriage.

J.C. Watts would be interesting, if he could get himself elected governor of Oklahoma in '06.

I'm glad there are a few people questioning the leadership fo Owens. From the day he got up on the podium with the anti-gunners, we knew he would sacrifice our 2nd amendment freedoms for political gain. We went on the offensive and picketed him at several events. He responded by attacking the 2nd Amendment supporters by calling us "extremists". This is all after he had stabbed us all in the back in the legislature. The bill could not pass so he took it upon himself to go hang with the anti-gunners.

Yes, he has since then signed concealed carry, but he in my mind is a politician that will trade our rights for his gain.

The "close the gunshow loophole" law voted in due to Owens, has been a get nothing done-feel good law. I have not even heard of one single arrest or crime stopped due to this stupid law. But if three guys get together in a goose blind and talk about buying and selling guns, it is a "gun show".

Bottom line is that I don't trust the guy.

Go ahead and flame me, Owens supporters, I have my principles too.

It would be nice to lock up the Jewish vote.

Then wouldn't we follow the 1980 pattern by putting true-blue conservative Bill Owens at the top of the ticket and either Rudy, Ridge, Powell, or Conni at the bottom of the ticket?

To me, that makes more sense but, obviously, others would disagree.

I don't agree with your thinking about Cain. As a vice chair of a county of over 200,000, a delegate to the convention and of course a Cain supporter, you cannot see what is happening statewide in Georgia. Cain has spent 8 months holding 3 and 4 events a day 6 days a week. And, to packed crowds. He, single handedly has done more for local Republicans than any other candidate. I would include Ralph Reed in that last sentence, and Ralph was awesome.

Cain's numbers are escalting daily and his supporters are an enthusiastic bunch. Don't place your bets on Isakson just yet. Georgia doesn't want a RINO.
