Come to Indiana, Pa. It's the hometown of Jimmy Stewart and Indiana Univ. of Pa. When the university is not in session it's pretty conservative. Uh, well, sort of... Well. In any case, we could always use more conservatives. :-)

You mean there aren't enough from one of the larger Halliburton facilities in the Northeast? :)

Let me welcome you to Alabama.

Is it still as beautiful as I remember around the Tombigbee River when I visited my relatives in Butler (county seat of Choctaw County)?

I imagine it is - change comes slowly down there, which is a good thing...

I've been away from my native Texas for 37 years and now live at Albuquerque. However, I've been trying to get my wife to retire on the wind-blown High Plains of west Texas. It does not have the nice weather of Albuquerque, but it has something much nicer; a rural American way of life. I already have one foot in west Texas but grandbabies in Albuquerque keep my other foot there.

The Pack are my favorite NFC team - sorry, Steelers number one for me.

I couldn't take a Green Bay winter!

Keep faith in the Pack!

Interesting ... why is everybody moving to Grand Junction? Could it be water ... the Colorado River & Gunnison? Little or no real traffic ... kind of like Colo. Springs & the front range 40 years ago!?

As a once-visitor to Grand Junction I must say that the view of the western side of the Rocky Mountains is truly a sight to behold. Just don't go eastbound on I-70 when it snows. :)

Very mild winters, scortching summers.
Abilene population a bit over 100K

I live in Coleman and love it.
Coleman is about 55 miles from Abilene and 30 from Brownwood.
Brownwood is also a great town of about 16K

I went to school in Richmond Ky. It's a few miles from Lexington. I made some good friends and have returned to visit many times. If I hadn't been chasing rainbows at the time I would have stayed in the area.
Johnson City TN reminds me of Lexington.

Gainesville is beautiful - at least the suburbs around the lake....not a bad choice; not bad at all.

There is a web site where you can check out and compare city to city facts such as cost of living, crime stats, all kinds of stuff. Try

Utah. Alabama. Texas. Central Florida. Georgia. Good luck. Also, while you're still there, consider this: God may have you there to be a light in the darkness.

Find someone to pray for, educate, and "work on". Leave someone in Oregon a little wiser--someday that seed you plant may yield a great harvest.

Where in VA?

My brother-in-law will be retiring from the military soon and might end up working in the DC area.

What is the Shenandoah Vally like? How about the upper Potomic?

Mississippi, very cheap cost of living. Her in North Ms might get an inch of snow a year.

Sorry I forgot to answer your freepmail. Please forgive me.

Texas is great! My ancestors came here very early and our family never left. You said you wanted to be about an hour from a big town.

I would direct you to the hill country. North and west of San Antonio and west of Austin. Beautiful rocky hills, cedar and small oaks and clear running streams and rivers. Nice climate too. Hot in the summer but lacking the humidity of the coast and the eastern part of the state.

East Texas is beautiful too. Pine and hardwood forest but an hour north of Houston you are still in Houston and it is growing that way.

I think it would be best for conservatives to move to marginally liberal states and help tip them over into the conservative column. 'Course, such is not for me. I'm tired of tilting at windmills. First chance I get, I'm moving to Texas! :-)

Come to Lubbock (my home). Population 201,000. Waco is good. It's about an hour and a half south of DFW, pop. 110,000. There are HUNDREDS of small towns in Texas to choose from...

Lots of choices in TEXAS! ...just pick your weather and terrain.
But stay out of Austin & Rio Grand Valley.
