We (five of us) were glad to do our part -- but we bailed out of the 'target zone' shortly after 9/11.

Our daughter and her family of four preceded us -- and we are working on the rescue of our son, his wife and daughter!

Yeahhhh.. You are absolutely right.

Why haven't all those asylum seekers that would have had to wait years in line to enter Canada, all just relocated to Mass, preferably Boston, where they can cohort with Kennedy and Kerry??

What happened to that mass exodus anyway? (pun intended)

I understand that when DEC and Compaq merged, that their operations went north to NH, due to the corporate tax consequences in MA.

"They seek to escape Liberalism than bring it with them to corrupt a new state."

Like the city-dwellers who move to the country to escape the crime and taxes.
Once there, the moo cows and the manure offend them.
Folks taking target practice sends chills up their yellow spines.
They seek to implement zoning regulations, in an effort to control the indigenous population.
If they succeed they make the place over in the image of the cesspool from which they crawled.

Oh goodie. Your taxes will triple in about 10 years when corporations continue to leave and you no longer have a strong tax base. Now, tell us about the Big Dig under Boston...

The bad news is that when everyone except the two of them has left the state, Massachusetts will still have two Senators (Kennedy and Kerry).

I don't know how old Kennedy is, but I would think he will retire in a few years and America will be rid of him.

I thought they had cut back on the tax stuff quite a bit in recent years. Aren't several other states (CA, NY, NJ) now worse?

Having lived in 5 different states in the past 15 years, including MA, the taxes are not that high for middle class homeowner compared to other places. (especially the neighboring states of NY, Conn, and VT)

And as of 2 years ago, housing values do not reflect any dip in demand.

The small towns of western and central Mass have been very hard hit by the recession. Towns like North Adams have lost 70-80 percent of their job base to globalization. Years ago it was common that every home in the US had a pair of shoes made in North Adams or electrical equipment made by Sprague. That's all gone now.

He'll never retire. He's one of those guys who enjoys all the perks of office to much to ever give them up.

He'll die in office, but he won't leave it.

Abortion and liberalism may have something to do with it.

They move to another state and vote for the same things they moved to get away from.

"Bad gov't and overtaxation eventually kills the goose that lays the golden eggs..."

Certainly bad government prevails here in Massachusetts. The Legislature and the media fight Governor Romney all of the way in everything that he tries to do. The taxes are not so bad here statewide as they used to be compared to other states, but the cities and towns are killing the tax paying populace, with fees and fines. The fees, fines, and licensing costs are very high, and getting higher all of the time.

Curiously, under Dukakis the State budget was approximately 12 Billion. After 1 term with a Republican Governor (Weld) the budget climbed to over 20 Billion. It has continued to escalate, despite the fact that no Democrat has been elected to the Governor position since 1986 in Massachusetts.

The best thing that could happen here is a change in the population. Hopefully the next census will cut another Mass. congressional seat. People here are voting with their feet, literally, and the result will likely be that more red states will wield even more clout in the future. Woo Hoo!!

I'll get out myself again as soon as it is expedient for me. Massachusetts simply bites, and I do not wish to be one of the last ones here to close the door on this place.

New Hampshire has a tendency to flip in Presidential elections.

Many from Mass. do move there though, and the granite State is in trouble, as is Vermont for similar reasons.

Expect Joe Kennedy to replace his uncle in the Senate. Joe, is a moron, but he has some pretty good handlers. The Kennedys will simply not go away.
