Law could make ultrasound referral illegal for pro-life groups

Albany, New York, May. 27, 2004 (CWNews.com) - A bill before the New York Legislature would make it illegal for crisis pregnancy centers to refer pregnant women for ultrasounds. The bill was first proposed in April, but pro-life groups in New York have just recently make public warnings about it potential effect on their work.


The bill, proposed in the Assembly as AB10829 and in the Senate as SB6776, would only allow an ultrasound referral from licensed health care professionals. The putative reasoning behind the bill is to stop so-called "ultrasound boutiques," storefront services that allow women to receive a sonogram of their children, not for a specific medical reason, but for "entertainment" purposes.

Okay so a medical reason is needed for ultra sounds. I wonder if crisis preganct centers can use term "medical reason" as broadly as pro-aborts use abortions for "health" reasons.

Someone should tell the OB/Gyns about this neurological "threat". We saw an ultrasound of our grandson every month before his birth. Frankly, I wonder whether that isn't just to bill the insurance companies for more services, but the doctor obviously didn't feel this was a threat to the baby.

Additionally, you should make note the the article in Lancet was based on older ultrsound recording devices. Today's machimes have 6-10 times the tissue penetrating power as the older machines.

If you're willing to potentially effect your child with unknown longterm effects of ultrasound then that's strictly your business.

BTW, I guess GWB was pushing abortion and Planned Parenthood when he signed similiar legislation while governor.

Understandable.

The abortionists have found that when an unsure expectant mother visually sees an image of HER baby it increases her motherly instinct (emotion) and she moves away from selecting abortion and toward carrying the baby to term. The purpose of the legislation is to prevent pro-life groups from offering free ultrasounds to expectant mothers so they won't see what their baby looks like, which is a cute little baby human being, not a blob of tissue.
