Actually I used Picasa2 to add the warm lighting. You can download it free from google its actually a nice program. Free even makes it better :P
Absolutely right. She is fiendishly intelligent. It takes a lot of brains to be as viciously funny as Ann. In that way, she reminds me of Mark Steyn -- smart, vicious and funny. But she's also absolutely fearless. She dares to write things no one else would write. And her jokes always point to the inherent contradictions of liberalism.
Overall, I'd say that Thomas Sowell is my favorite living conservative writer. He has a way of patiently explaining a point, boiling down complex topics into simple English that is easily accessible. Worth his weight in gold, IMHO.
Limbaugh is invaluable because he is simply such a great entertainer. He really understands how to make radio work. Very high energy level. Nobody in talk radio can compare. And Rush tries to be original in his arguments, which I appreciate. If you hear Rush and Hannity back-to-back, the difference is obvious: Hannity has never had an original idea. He just hammers away on familiar GOP talking points. Though Hannity's show is fast-paced, it's not as interesting because you don't really hear anything original. It's more like:
Hannity: Isn't the GOP wonderful?
Guest: It sure is.
Hannity: Those tricky Democrats hate America.
Guest: They sure do.
Hannity: And I think America is just GREAT!
Guest: It sure is.
I'm sorry, but I just don't think that kind of stuff is entertaining or enlightening.
Somebody mentioned Victor Davis Hanson -- no way. He is a very timid thinker, a guy who never colors outside the lines. He makes some good points, but there isn't anything fresh or innovative in his writing. He doesn't really challenge conventional wisdom.
I recommend "Is It True What They Say About Ann" DVD. You'll have to buy it--netflix won't stock it.
A great post, thank you.
Sentence for sentence I found myself agreeing with everything you said.
You are one smart guy!!!!!!!!
i totally disagree with you. i have read several of her books and find her amusing, intelligent and insightful into the mind of the liberal. in addition, she has credentials that are worth something.
I saw the interview. Did you buy her claim that she had not read the article?
My idea of a true intellectual is Victor Davis Hanson. A truly smart fellow, who went to Stanford, which I think is the best University in the US.
Neither.
We are TROLLS. ;-)
I wouldn't be surprised at all if she didn't read it. As a matter of fact, the chances are she doesn't read the threads posted here about her.
When you are dueling bare knuckles in the public arena there are millions of people who think about nothing but exacting revenge and you don't need to read all their comments about your personal appearance. Remarks about your politics are one thing but wisecracks that make you aware yourself can really get to you.
And she gets enough positive feedback from her friends and from those royalty checks.
Silence, Newbie ;-)
Conservatives have money... why are we not stepping up to the plate and filling the void? Fox News was a gamble? Hardly! Look how fast it took off. In economic terms it is nothing more than filling a demand!
So I say: Let this be the line drawn in the sand. We put up with these liberals for decades and we took Congress and the Presidency from them... now on to the publishing houses! My friends... why spend even a dime to enrich liberals when we can have our own newspapers and magazines? Washington Times! Instant success!
