We're talking about certain segments of religion trying to justify their acts...Christians, Jews and Muslim all have these segments.
In fact it can get very minute in various ways twisting and subverting scripture.
Unfortunately evil infest them all.
Civil disobedience?! You mean like a sit in?
My point simply is man, in his evil way, will twist scripture to justify his acts and every religion is not immune from this corruption.
No . We're talking about a major religion that was founded on the express premise that the whole world must submit to its God or die. In real time. Today.
The fact many members of that religion might be proccupied with merely existing, or don't have a clear opportunity to kill a Jew, Christian, or infidel for Allah today is secondary. Their religion commands it.
You are making a moral equivalence argument that has no basis in reality. Islam is NOT like Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, or even atheism. Islam is malignant. The others are, at worst, aggressive.
The moral equivalence nonsense is easily and readily disproved by simply comparing how Muslims are treated the west compared to how non-Muslims are treated in Islamic countries.
To even suggest that it is "six of one, half a dozen of the other" is ludicrous. And bear in mind, the oppression carried out against non-Muslims in Islamic countries is done by mainstream Muslims, not fanatics.
You have no clue what I wrote do you? You're just spouting off nonsensical B.S. Go back re-read what I wrote, THINK about it, and then I'll respond.
You are partly right. Man, in his evil way, WILL twist scripture to justify his acts. And, yes, no religion is immune from imperfect men doing this sort of thing.
The main difference is that Islam, as a religion, as a political system (which it absolutely is - one incompatible with democracy at that), actually COMMANDS its followers to do these evil things in order to fulfill their obligation to their deity, "allah" and his "prophet" muhammed.
It is all there in the holy writings of Islam. It's right there in the qur'an and in the hadiths. The main theme of their holy books is death and destruction of all things non-moslem. Islam does not mean "peace" as some will try to tell you. "Islam" translates as "submission".
The rebuttal was in concert with the question you referenced in response 27 which was;
MosesKnows: Do you have a definition for "religion" that includes Judaism and Christianity yet excludes Islam.
The point of my "in depth rebuttal" was that what you offered did not define religion.
A belief in and reverence for a creator of the universe coupled with a personal, or perhaps even an institutionalized, system of worship, beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader constitutes religion.
A cult on the other hand is most often defined as a extremist religious sect with followers living under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.
I cannot find definitions that differs much from these basic definitions. Therefore, the assertion that Islam is a cult while Christianity and Judaism are religions fail.
In regard to your questions to me:
Do you deny islam has a political system (sharia) as one of its fundamental cornerstones? No
However, referring to Sharia as Islamic law is misleading. Law in Islamic nations is more tied to the culture than to Sharia. Sharia law is implemented to varying degrees in different Islamic countries - from the beheadings of Saudi Arabia, to the relatively liberal social mores of Malaysia.
Do you agree with sharia? No
Do you think sharia is compatible with democracy? No
Ever lived under sharia? (I have as an expat Dhimmi) No
How do you propose to stop it? I have no such plans
Re-read Later BUMP!
Takfir is generally translated as "departure from Islamic practices", usually in the sense of ceasing to be a Muslim
Hijira literally means "journey". The Quran uses the word Hijra to mean moving from a bad place or state of affairs to a good one
Since one of the main tactics of the group is to stop performing Islamic practices in order to better blend into non-Muslim societies, and not attract attention, an alternate translation of al-Takfir wa al-Hijra would be
