I guess Bush didn't shrink government when he brought in more revenue by cutting our taxes either.

Actually, no he didn't. Government has grown in size even as revenues have (slightly) decreased. That's why we're currently running a deficit.

" No president is ever going to give you 100% of your heart's desire; learn to live in reality!"

Right!

That part in the oath of office about "protect and defend" or that stuff about "all enemies foreign and domestic" really shouldn't apply to THIS president.

There is no pleasing you.

Why don't you run for office and save the country?

I believe in a strong U.S.A. I do want our borders controlled.

I thought the idea was to stop illegal immigration.

Once it is stopped and the people coming in aren't illegal, what will you say then?

I see smoke and mirrors in your bolded post.

America was built on people from all over the world. And it still is.

What are you talking about? I corrected you on the facts - I didn't even express an opinion as to whether I was pleased/displeased on this issue or any other.

Perhaps you should figure out who your real enemies are, and fight them, instead of alienating those with whom you may actually agree.

Each has their own motivation for allowing our country to be overrun with these people. Think about it for awhile and you will see what I mean.

Do you even realize how many government jobs could be eliminated if these people were all shipped home and the money not their for social welfare programs? Do realize how many fewer cops we would need in a place like L.A.? Prisons? The government does not want that. They want to grow, not cut back.

Corporate America wants wages for low and medium skilled jobs as low as possible, which is understandable. However, when you consider the living standards most illegals find acceptable, there is no way that most legal Americans could compete or should even tolerate. Its a race to the bottom .

There is no room in this country for criminals who break the law when they enter illegally. They have no respect for our Laws, taxes, or way of life. I am very concerned about Homeland Security..consider the following snip..

"The Energy Department inspector general June 14 completed a report revealing illegal aliens had been working at one of the department's "most sensitive sites."

The location was the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn. In his report, Energy Inspector General Gregory H. Friedman said: "The mission of Y-12 includes the manufacture of nuclear weapons components; weapons dismantlement, storage and evaluation; and the warehousing of enriched uranium material." The IG discovered the Energy Department had hired a contractor who used illegal alien workers for a construction project at the facility.

"We found that foreign construction workers, using false documents, gained access to the Y-12 site on multiple occasions," said the report. "Specifically, we determined 16 foreign construction workers were illegal aliens. Some of these workers acquired facility access badges and were permitted access to the main Y-12 site, and others were permitted access to an adjacent Y-12 leased facility.

Certain information associated with construction of the Y-12 leased facility, which was planned to store documents up to the Secret-Restricted Data level was considered Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI) and Official Use Only (OUO).Consequently, these individuals may have had opportunities to inappropriately access this type of information."

Now count the presumed layers of homeland defense these illegal aliens defeated:

First, they defeated the defenses we put at our borders to stop people from entering the country illegally or from entering with the intent to stay beyond the terms of their visa.

Second, they defeated the defenses we put within the country itself to discover those who are living and working here illegally.

Third, they defeated the defenses put in place by the Energy Department to stop unknown foreign nationals from working inside a nuclear weapons facility.

"Also, we learned that the Office of Counterintelligence was not aware of the presence of foreign construction workers at the Y-12 leased facility until notified by the Office of Inspector General during this inspection," reported Mr. Friedman. "Counterintelligence checks had not been performed for these individuals to that point."

Well, at least we caught them after they got inside Y-12".

Snip...And so it goes..on and on..

So your answer is to tell everyone here that is here illegally that they are now legal and that now we have no illegal immigration problem???

This plan is so rife with false assumptions and delusions its almost pathetic its coming from the White House.

For anyone to, with a straight face, believe some new program will be enforced any different than our current plan is just living in the clouds and not in touch with reality. No one is going to send these people home after their time is up.

I apologize.

I need to stop trying to do more than one thing at a time.

I regret that I mixed up posters.

fer cryin' out loud. Those here illegally, applying for the temp visa -- can be quite readily weeded out from those here illegally, and working illegally, and operating illegally. Furthermore, with those temp VISA'S its far easier to track those here temporarily.

That is what GWB's plan essentially does and which you support. There is no such thing as a "guest worker" who we will not throw out even if they overstay their "guest period". Its another word for amnesty. For anyone to believe different is just wishful thinking at best.

Government has grown in size even as revenues have (slightly) decreased.

Are you sure about this? I've seen quite a few posts that say that revenues are UP since the tax cuts. Darn it, now you're going to make me go look it up...

Revenue is up, but so is spending. Its like the status quo with different numbers. However you slice it and dice it, government has grown exponentially and shows no sign of slowing down i.e. prescription drugs, etc etc.
