"Support my Republican opponent and you will be expelled from the GOP."
Jim Gilchrist is not a Republican.
'Dunderheaded'.
Fits.
"He isn't a Republican?"
No, he isn't.
Well I have received about 8 mailers from Campbell so far, and one glossy one from Brewer attacking Campbell as being an illegal symp, and that was the only matter Brewer mentioned. I don't like mailers. They are dropped into the trash can which is between the mailbox and the interior door from the garage into the house. In any event, Campbell is spending tons of money.
This is Orange County. One of them IS going to win. Take my word for it.
My bad. What is his affiliation?
American Independent Party, which is the California affiliate of the Constitution Party.
He's sure doing that.
Can't find any volunteers, so he put out an email offering $13 per hour for precinct walkers.
Gilchrist has hundreds of fired-up grassroots volunteers on the streets.
They're so fired up, they'd pay Jim to work. ;-)
He's AIP. American Independent. The CA affiliate of the Constitution Party.
I agree that it would be death by fragmenting voting blocks if there were two conservative parties against the liberal but it would also be glorious to elect JUST ONE who isn't a Republican or Democrat and if elected would be able to speak freely without being attacked by his party. Such a victory would create a force to the right.
Having said that, Gilchrist needs to explain why he was an American Independent Party member, rather than a Republican, and what issues he agrees with, and does not agree with, endorsed by that party, in my opinion, if he is going to be upfront, and let it all hang out.
I write this as a supporter of the one whom I characterized above as an apparent "dunderhead." But Campbell is no Cox. There seems to be about a 30 point IQ gap between the two.
So being a "republican" now means you MUST OBEY the party? Like the communist party? Or the DNC? Or maybe the NAZI?
Let him try to expel me. A-hole...
Thanks.
The one who threatens should himself be expelled from positions of leadership.
It's real simple. Go to Gilchrist's website and look for yourself. His agenda is laid out in black and white for all to see.
"So being a "republican" now means you MUST OBEY the party? Like the communist party? Or the DNC? Or maybe the NAZI?"
If you're a Republican officeholder, and you assist a non-Republican over a Republican, then you have zero call on the resources of the Republican Party in your next election.
And since you made the first Nazi reference, you lose the argument, per Godwin's Law.
The subject district is one of the two highest income districts in Southern California, and includes Newport Beach, and is mostly Anglo, with some well to do Asians, and too far from Hollywood, to have a significant number of well to do liberals, except around the University of California at Irvine, and in gay friendly Laguna Beach. It voted 58% Bush, 40% Kerry.
No one can expel a registered Republican voter from the Republican Party, true.
What the aim of this resolution would have been was to expel members of the state Republican Party Central Committee members who openly support Gilchrist over Campbell.
Central committees DO have that power...
I want to know why he registered AIP rather than GOP. Is that explained on the website? It was not last time I looked.
