Mel, please explain why you are now reduced to titling movies from Jimmy Buffett songs?

Is Bush "people?

Meaning that Bush is one man, not many.

Just because someone has an issue with Bush, doesn't make them the enemy.

I don't know about the quote but Gibson is more true to his principles than Bush is.

I question the agenda of the MSM and their desire to report the news accurately.

he sure is nice to look at though...

No kidding. I watched a young Gibson in The Bounty the other week and have to admit that he got even better looking as he got older. Hubba hubba. Too bad he may have become another one who needs to shut up and act.

I read the early review posted on Drudge. It seems to me that he was merely trying to get on the right side of the Hollywood establishment and hoping to deflect criticism of his movie, which probably has the potential of being taken two ways: As an admiring look at Mayan civilization, or as a politically incorrect attack on the Mayans for human sacrifice.

I don't think the remark about Bush was a serious comment, just a mild attempt to get the reviewer on his side and avoid another stint of being endlessly bashed by the media.

Maybe he should have been a bit less accommodating, but I don't hold it against him. I'm curious to see the movie.

This isn't news. Mel's a conservative, but more in the paleocon/Buchanan vein. He has said before he doesn't really agree with the Iraq war, although I'm pretty sure he still voted for Bush.

Maybe we should coin the "Mel Gibson's Brain Is Beginning To Go Wherever His Dad's Did" ping?

Yep, I see him in his final years going off on "The Joooos" like Brando did.

I've always reserved judgment about a guy who's made as many movies with Danny Glover as Gibson. Some of insanity has to rub off.

So, what do you actually do that's beneficial to the cause? Complain?

I think the people who supported Passion of the Christ were overwhelmingly conservative and/or Republican.

And some of those that praised Gibson's epic "The Passion of the Christ" may take pause in how he describes this film by slamming the president.

And some of us are able to separate entertainment from politics. I go to the cinema to be entertained, not to form public policy.

We need to realize that there's a difference in an artist like Mel stating his opinion and the agenda pushing done by those who promoted this year's Oscar nominees.

If a movie is worth seeing, it's worth seeing. It's just that simple.
