I recently spoke with a guy who moved from the Binghamton area to the Mid-Hudson Valley because he lost his job. In Binghamton, he and his wife rented a four bedroom/two bath house for about $650 a month. Here, they are paying $1400 for a two bedroom/1.5 bath condo. While his rent has more than doubled, his wages have gone up by only 50%, and he now works two jobs to make ends meet.
"Does that make any sense whatsoever?"
Yep! The new experiment in the new place allows them to put off facing up to the fact that most of what they believe is utter crap.
You know, our taxes really aren't that high. We're in the middle of the pack, and as a share of our per capita income, below states like Georgia, North Carolina, Utah, and Idaho.
But as for the rest of it... yeah.
I did the same, and said the same to a recruiter for a Khaliforniastan job.
Yes, and don't forget that "Clean Jeane" Shaheen was the governor who vetoed the Voter Picture ID bill
The libs always say that the only reason the socialism/marxism didn't work was that we didn't spend enough money on it.
Wait, wait...
Are we there yet?
I believe the state will get bluer, as most of the emigrants will be entrepreneurs and other capable people seeking to escape the suffocating business climate and third highest tax burden, by state, in the country. After four four year terms of RINO governors and republican legislative dominance.
We may go blue in 2008, but at least will lose another 'rat seat or two in Congress after 2010.
All too often, such migrants are usually exactly the kind of people they're moving to get away from.
