He's the favorite cause the 'establishment' had dirt on him and is easy to control.

He'd be worse than Hillary, cause at least she'd be tied up with off the wall lunacy that might actually be entertaining.

I can just imagine a politically correct war waged by the Queen of Mean. Every left wing lug nut from Frisco to devil's island would be in DC.

It would be like a Three Stooges, Scoobey Doo, and Ellen Degeneres dropping acid and getting into a jello pit to fight it out.

Remember how many seats in state and federal elections the Republicans won when Billy the First was president of the United States of Bl@w-j@bs.

Unlike you or anyone else on this thread, I take the time read the theory and know it won't work.

I'll bite. I await your brilliant critique of each of the points and proposals made in Krikorian's paper. Put up or shut up.

McCain is creepy and by his own words a danger to this country. Brings to mind the word "traitor." Of course, illegal aliens can be deported. They don't all have to be put on buses since there are also other ways to get rid of them. This country is being invaded and he says we have to wave the white flag.

Do you understand that a lot people at FR do not back Attrition Theory because they will settle for nothing less than mass deportations. I could be wrong, but I think this applies to you also.

So what you likely have on this thread is a number of people cheering this gal and attrition theory and they don't even know what it is, much less endorse it.

Blah...blah...blah. You stated that you had read the theory and you implied that you were so smart that you could provide an intelligent critique of the theory. Put up or shut up. All the rest that you just posted is noise and an attack on just about every other poster in this thread. Really. Put up or shut up.

Thanks but I didn't do this. A courageous and well informed woman named Sandy Miller did it. I just posted her email using its original title. I'm going to direct her to this thread so that she can read the kudos that she deserves.

He then interrupted with a condescending one-liner that he used at the morning session, "..then you're reading a different dictionary than I am..." to which I replied, "Senator, I don't used dictionaries to read laws. I read this law in United States Code Title 8, Section 1324."

Bingo.... I'll save this should McCain comes to town.

This guy really is a mental midgit.

As I said on the thread that I linked you to, I have made numerous comments regarding various aspects of illegal immigration that were confirmed by Krikorian. The best example being that the illegals can't be deported because of the economoc chaos. For this, I am often called OBL. And on that thread, several posters called Krikorian OBL for the same reason.

As for an intelligent critique:

Considering all the increases in expenditures on the border over the last 10 years, without any reduction in illegal migration, how will this stop it?

If you look at the House bill, you'll see that this theory is going to take a long time to implement, with no guarentee of success. Funding is not off-budget so it will be a yearly battle for money.

Most of all, it will never pass congress.

Do you have any numbers on this? I would think the expenditures on our southern border have decreased.

Regardless, there are 2 other factors that have increased our illegal immigration numbers. 1) a decrease in the numbers of illegals arrested and/or deported. I haven't seen any of those green vans around in decades. 2) a decrease in the number of employers that are even checked for having illegal workers, much less fined. Pretty much nothing has been done under Bush to even try to control the situation. Just the opposite - he's been encouraging them to come with jobs waiting and promises of amnesty.

As far as i can tell...McCain is not a member of the CFR...he has no chance in '08.

That is a widely known fact. The cost per head is about fivefold. The number of BP agents has doubled. The San Diego fence was built. The post 9-11 crackdown was extensive.

The overiding reason for illegal immigration/rise in illegal immigration is the number of low skill-low pay jobs being created by the economy. That number is currently 483,000 such jobs each year.

You understand that attrition theory was a fall-back position. Prior to that, deportation was the preferred method of dealing with illegals. First Krikorian, followed by Tancredo, faced with the undisputable facts that there would be a severe economic crisis if that route were followed, fell back to the theory of attrition and self deportation. The problem with this rationalization is that an economic shock is an economic shock whether it takes 10 years or 5 years.

Sandy,

In all seriousness, you should look into speech writing and debate coaching. Your confrontation was efficient and powerful.

You are a highly talented speaker and writer. And I don't hand out praises easily.
