"Why are you throwing out such obvious bait...."

Funny, you were the first one to toss out "anti-hispanic".

That was my opinion and still is. Thank you for your censorship. What I said was hardly "nutso" and accurate as we, unfortunately, with "leadership" like this will find out (if things don't change).

Perhaps you should be studying your world history.

Well, I'm not entirely sure I understand the question. If you're asking me if I'm I'm an illegal immigrant or legal immigrant, I'm neither. I'm of primarily Scottish descent, and my earliest ancestors (on this continent) were in Carolina long before the United States came into existence. I couldn't even tell you exactly what generation American I am, only that it's a bunch.

Ahhh, so you must be from the Benedict Arnold clan. I see now. Blackbird.

While I'm not interested in name-calling, I am interested in hearing your opinion. Here's where I'm coming from,

I don't have a problem with the brown skin. I have a problem with the culture. When I look at the Hispanics here that I respect I don't see them coming from a 100% Hispanic culture. I see them heavily influenced by American culture. They might not spring from here but they certainly appreciated and respected the softer landing that America provided as they came down.

When I look at the overall illegal-immigration situation I see a SIZEABLE plurality of people who accept the leadership of those who don't have any allegiance to America. Maybe the regular folks don't agree but they seem to take no action to change the rhetoric.

I believe that America is a country but Americans are a people who don't have to share anything but a basic ideology. That ideology comprises most of the things that you have on your about page. You seem to take care of your own and see to your own defense.

I would not care about illegal immigration nearly as much if I thought those ideas were shared by the the rest of the world. They're not, so I am.

Those that live here can attest to the fact that our hospitals are shutting down because they just can't afford the load. We pay for it one way or the other!

Capitulation to a minority is not commons sense. It's giving in. Or, in this case selling out.

This isn't capitulation in any way shape or form.

This was a carefully and delberately planned and executed emigration conducted by the federal government. It transcends party lines.

And after looking at the numbers since President Bush took his first oath...well all I have to say is THANK GOD!

I know an illegal who's wife is expecting their son any minute. He gets his Maryland drivers license in about 3 months. He graduated from a Montgomery Country HS and played soccer for the Community College.

He speaks perfect English. He's been here about 9 years. He's only 20.

He loves David Bowie and Andrea Bocelli and he loves his mama.

How would you feel about him staying as opposed to being deported?

And what if he was from Cuba and not Mexico? To me, amnesty is another word for aslym.

They've earned their right to become citizens tomorrow, IMO.

Be my guest. I cannot claim it as an original thought. But it's obvious George Bush highly values the fence around the White House. He highly values his Secret Service detail. Congress is protected by a very large contingent of Capitol Police.

Yet they refuse to protect the American people with a border fence and military on the border. Security for them but not the nation whose laws they pledge to uphold when they are sworn in

They make up the majority because they are coming here illegally while our government looks the other way and (as another poster mentioned) they don't allow educated Asians the same access to our country.

You make a good point, Carolyn. There are real differences--and no, this isn't "racist"--between Asian and Hispanic cultures with regard to performance and success.

"Genius? I would have to question that."

I sure question it. From where I stand, he is an obtuse-beltway-in-bred-freak!

Well, at least you admit your prejudices. That's more than I can say for most. Bully for you.

I prefer the Anglo-American culture, laws and language we have. You have no preferences. You are a citizen of the world type

I don't intend to attack Karl Rove personally. I do, however, take issue with the fact that some Republicans have tried to register him for sainthood with the Vatican.

You know, that's all well and good but my granmother came over here LEGALLY and she and my granfather went through h*ll to do it. They became citizens, learned English and were hard working too. See the difference is.....One is legal and one isn't.

re: post number 207

He came here illegally. He skipped normal legal channels to come here. He certainly shouldn't be granted the privilege of American citizenship. There is no compelling reason why he should ever be granted American citizenship. None what so ever.

There are millions of East Europeans that would love to move here. With the rise of Islam in Western Europe there are now millions of West Europeans who would love to immigrate here. They all are educated English speakers yet we allow ourselves to be swamped by uneducated non English speakers from the 3rd world. It's idiotic. I would like to see more educated Indians allowed in. They speak English and are hi IQ
