This is the Republican fatal flaw. One can hope that this Democrat backstabbing of Hastert will finally open up a few eyes.

Worth repeating.
No, I don't agree. I don't think Hassert must resign over this. I do think, though, that he's done a bad job in general. Look at all the crap that's stuck to the GOP in the last 2 years. We need new leadership at the top, it's as simple as that. Those underneath might move up or out, but that is a separate issue.
On the other hand, I think it should happen after the election. We don't need that fight now.
Nothing personal....but I'm entitled to my opinion. And my personal opinin is that believe an older person over 40 looking for a young ignorant teen or young 20 year old is a pervert.
Absolutely.
Pelosi and her Demonrat cousins are playing us like fiddles. Here's what's important: Foley's out. Hastert didn't know about the IMs.
Let's keep our eyes on the whole ball of wax here: - the WOT; -- the courts (2 seats coming up); -- impeachment; --a second Clinton presidency.
Shake this off, folks. Shake it off. - - - I repeat: Foley's out. Hastert didn't know about the IMs. And, the Demonrats are playing us like fiddles.
Annoy the media, fellow Republicans and stay focused!!
Bossie was fired from the House per this info - I remembered something about him being removed and here is the reason - he doctored evidence:
If what Bossie had in mind was the Webster Hubbell tapes that he and Burton were preparing for release, then these have turned out to be a disaster for Burton and Bossie. Just when Newt Gingrich was trying to increase the scandal pressure on Clinton, Burton and Bossie embarrassed themselves and the GOP by making public selective portions of the Hubbell tapes. Remarks that indicated Hillary Clinton did no wrong were left out of the initial release. In several instances the transcripts did not match the actual recordings, and these errors seemed almost willful, as if they were intended to unfairly implicate Hubbell and the Clintons. Rather than confirming Clinton wrongdoing, they confirmed long-standing Democratic charges that the Burton investigation was hopelessly biased -- and it was Bossie himself who had insisted on their release, over the objections of more prudent committee staffers. After several days of firestorm, Bossie was removed -- reportedly because Republican House leaders (some of whom already questioned Burton's ability to handle the Democrats on his committee) forced Burton to bounce him.
I agree -- my sentiments on Hastert as well. It is not over this, but I think he is inept at getting the message out!
Oh I'd forgotten about that. Yeah, Tony Blankley, you know a lot about people having to resign in disgrace. But how's about keeping it to the perps. Newt, ICK.
Consider his messenger. His spokesperson is the guy who was Trent Lott's spokesman when he resigned as Majority Leader. Either he is a crappy spokesperson, or a bad luck charm. Good luck for him getting a job after this one.
Unfortunately, I agree with you about the Republican congress but also include the Democrats. They should all go and we should start over with term limits. George Bush IS the only sane one and he is the one that is term limited. Instead of all the silliness about how his ratings are so low (41) the Republicans running must run away from him, it is he who should run from them (25% approval). Yet he is out there campaigning for them like he did in 2002, winning them their majorities and in 2004 giving his coattails for them to add more seats too.
I'm not sure if you got my point. If he steps down over this, then they probably all should step down, if they all knew.
But I don't think that they've all gotta go if the reason for the shake up is just the generally poor job the GOP has done. I'd give the others a chance to fix Hassert's mess. I think that a lot of the problem is just that Hassert has not been proactive. Let one of the others shake things up.
The democrats DID have them.

The dirty tricks team which brough down delay, CREW, is the same one that had the instant messages.
Emails were in the house email system. Instant messages are ether and someone had to affirmativly have the intent to save them. Someone intentionally saved these instant messages three years ago.
The first thing I did this morning was cancel my subscription to the National edition of the Washington Times.
They never catch on. It is so damn frustrating.
The democrat operatives of CREW KNEW foley would be asked to resign.
Pelsosi had Rep. Harman as the point man to go out and demand resignations as a Pelosi surrogate.
The Hassert must resign editorials were in the can filed under the previous "culture of corruption" script.
I was 35 turning 36 and my wife was 24 when we were married. Nothing wrong there.
