Mr Tudorache, a deeply religious grandfather who lost his arm in an accident, was one of those who feels most humiliated. For one scene, a rubber sex toy in the shape of a fist was attached to the stump of his missing arm - but he had no idea what it was.

I concede. You made several great points. My PC comment was a bit flippant and off the cuff and you hit that soft ball out of the park. With respect to the participation of the 'actors' as the defining point as to whether this is deemed offensive or merely a crass comedy, I'll have to see the movie. From the excerpts and the comments from friends I'm not necessarily buying the duped victim bit as yet.

In fact, "Borat" is trying to make many of the same points as Moore-- rednecks are racists and anti-semites, Americans are idiots, etc. Some of them just happen to be at the expense of people from other countries, so that makes it funny.

I haven't seen the film, but I have seen plenty of Ali G shows on HBO, and I find Borat tends to give those with an inclination to hang themselves the rope to do just that. You can't blame Sacha Baron Cohen/Borat for exposing people as racists, anti-Semites, or idiots (or all three) if they, in fact, behave like racists, anti-Semites, or idiots.

The brawl in the hotel was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

But just realize that they liked Borat and the crew and thought he was their friend, they did not know what was happening. I think Borat is an ass.

I agree with your remarks which denigrate Cohen-Borat.

I do have an acid or litmus test however. Those who think it is funny could do a little of imagine. ( are they capable of imagination?).

What if the Borat style of "joke" was applied to them personally? Ah yes, "all jolly good fun, I can take it"- would be their response.

Next, what if an elderly relative of THEIRS was so treated? Their mother for example. (Screams of "don't you dare insult MY mother.")
