Your attitude that they are responsible for their own choices is just a cover, for your indifference to them. Your high little horse, seems to have NO requirements for Mr Borat. He can lie to them. That is fine in your little world. He can misrepresent but hey... They signed the release! But are they required in your, little horse, world, to know what they are signing, to know what is being made of the images, or is just a simple X on a piece of paper enough for you. Screw em, they signed.

I disagree. Anyone who has seen the movie will admit that he was an equal opportunity offender. One of the funniest scenes in the whole movie is when he interviews a bunch of women from a left wing feminist group - that's certainly not a favored target of the PC crowd.
You're right that he also went after the "Joe Six-Pack" crowd...but what group didn't he go after?
The real point of Borat, and the reason why it is so un-PC, is that he's making fun of the worship of "multi-culturalism" in the United States. Think about it. He knows that most Americans are so afraid of "offending" somebody that they'll even put up with and strive not to upset a crass, obnoxious, smelly, backwards Borat-style character simply because he's a foreigner from a different culture.
This came to light very clearly in the scene at the fancy dinner where Borat was being completely obnoxious and absurd. He got up and left the table, and the lady sitting next to him started talking about how wonderful it was to experience all of Borat's multi-culturalism (a few minutes later the same multi-cultural Borat returned to the table with a bag of poop in his hand). It was all a gag to show just how ridiculous and profane Borat could be as these multi-cultural worshipping fools bent over backwards for him - not only to avoid offending him, but even to go so far as to praise celebrate his "cultural differences" with a compliment.
It's the heart of cultural relativism that Borat striking at, and that's why its so funny and so non-PC. As for the people in the film, none of them would've cared if it wasn't making money. Introduce money into the picture and all of and suddenly even gypsies living in dirt shacks have an attorney seeking his slice of the pie.
I know it's sophomoric, crass, and stupid, but I think it's pretty damn funny too.

If anybody wants to know what's really going on here just look at the timing of this lawsuit. The Borat movie has been playing at film festivals and premiers all over the world since late summer. Previews and clips of it have been all over the internet for months, including the scenes from the gypsy village. Nobody complained about any of it and nobody said a word about them being "exploited" then. Nobody tried to get the film stopped out of concern for these villagers, even though they knew exactly what was coming. No reporters went to Glod to do a pity piece about the villagers there, or how they were "cheated" or "misled."
The lawyers and reporters and other self appointed do-gooders only showed up AFTER it opened at the U.S. box office and became the top grossing film for 2 weekends in a row. There's a reason for that and it involves a dollar sign.
Bingo. Just look at the timing. No lawyers showed up to express concern for the poor impoverished villagers 3 months ago, even though the exact same clips were all over the internet and the film was playing at premiers and festivals. They only came a week AFTER its box office success when they knew there would be money to sue for.
If you don't like this kind of humor, why the hell would you pay money and sit through it? Maybe you can join the Romanians and sue Borat?!? High five!

Mr. Borat is fictional. Mr. Cohen is responsible for his own actions and the Romanian adults are responsible for theirs. If they have some grounds for breach of contract or fraud, they can take him to court. If they think they look stupid for doing what they agreed to do, that is their problem.
You seem to think that sinse they are poor, they should be treated like children. They signed the release and took their pay. The poor in Romania are just as beholden to legally binding contracts as the rich of England.

You attempt to change the subject to the "rights of man" when what happened was a rich liar went to a really sad and destitute place, he acted like their friend and made asses of them. You want to put your hand in your lapel, and mouth a bunch of garbage. You don't defend the villagers, you tell them to just take it. Just take it. The rich can come to town with lawyers, act like your friend, totally decieve you as to their real purpose and its okay with you. Contracts require full disclosure and that is what is lacking here. There was none. Borat is an ass.
Well then, they have a case that will triumph in court and all will be well in the newly-wealthy village!
And maybe Grandma will have learned a valuable lesson that donning the big fake boobs might turn out to be embarrassing when viewed through the prism of time.
I had routed up my Toronto Star for the "letter". Such was a eulogy of BORAT. I found it was an article. Forgive me if I use the opportunity to pick out a telling sentence.
