mmmm fish guts- and here I sit eating my yucky animal crackers. Why? Why oh Why can't we have bloody fish guts? I feel so left out.

An ancient Roman style boat was found recently preserved in the river mud in Vietnam...........now you know where they got the recipe..........

Most ships sank close to shore after they hit rocks or coral reefs. Occasionally they might drift farther out to sea after losing their ballast but generally go down within a couple miles.

It's very unusual for a ship to sink far out to sea without the help of warfare or pirates...unless the ship wasn't designed for open sea travel or was in very bad condition.

From what I read in the excellent book 'Food In History' i was highly salted and was much like the Vietnamese fish sauce.

Also Worchestershire suace is its descendant, being made of anchovies guts and all.

Now, with that, I will go back to my haggis.
