..Duncan Hunter is great guy but his supporters need to face the fact that as a Presidential candidate he is nothing more than Newt without the name recognition, grass roots support, or fundraising ability... Ok, how does "Advice President Newt" sound to you? :) - I woulk like that!
Let's face it, the Advice president would have to be a TOP NOTCH candidate as well... Because he is the one that will continue Duncan's 8 years!
LOL... To dream.... does not cost a cent :))

Right, cause young women Christians can't make up their minds on their own? There. All better.
Go back to DU where those opinions belong.
Knee-jerk and intolerant.... yup, must be a Christian!!!

You can characterize it as "being against giving away the store" or whatever other way you want, but tariffs and trade quotas are still protectionism.
To: zbigreddogz
You are delusional if you think he will lose the 'purple' rustbelt states.

48 million babies have been killed since Roe v Wade. Anyone who does not fight against that will not get my vote under any circumstances. Then you guarantee that abortion will go on forever... by sitting at home, you assure that a liberal will win and liberals will rule the Court.
When will you Fundies understand this???

The Fundies are notorious for taking their ball and running home if we don't play their game the way they like. I personally think if we can get rid of them, we'd gain more moderate Independents and Conservative Democrats than we would lose to the new Pat Robertson Party.
I think you show a severe lack of understanding of the true demographics in this country. Your dismissal of "Fundies" as some irrelevant fringe group tells me that you have no idea what kind of people actually populate this country. That kind of ignorance is exactly the reason Republicans lost in this last election, and will continue to lose unless they change their ways.
And also, the experiment where "Fundies" are removed from the party has already been done. That's how we got modern Democrats.

Nope, History is seriously against Hunter.
Perhaps, but we're not slaves to history. And this is a very strange election cycle with a lot of weird dynamics. Former 1st Lady running. Black candidate running with a real shot. GOP front-runners all with serious baggage.
In my opinion, unless the GOP gets behind someone who can truly run as a Reagan conservative, we're toast.
I'm putting my money on Duncan Hunter. To my mind, all the other "frontrunning" candidates lead to a loss in November 2008.

You are a silly silly person and your statements are weak in the arguement value section.

Thats his one black mark. Earmarks.
But as president he can't do that. YAY!
He is for fair/free trade. Emphasis on fair. That my friend will win him a whole lot of votes that usually go to the dems.
To: Antoninus
It's nice for these anti-Hunter folks to wax nostalgic, but most of us learned in grade school that trying to win a debate with an argument no more substantive than "is not!" doesn't accomplish much.

And what do the rest of your friends at Democratic Underground think of Duncan Hunter?

"Duncan Hunter is a great guy but his supporters need to face the fact that as a Presidential candidate he is nothing more than Newt without the name recognition, grass roots support, or fund raising ability." The Blitherer didn't post this comment. azcap said it; therefore, she quoted it in her reply. Just to make that record clear.
One more thing...I strongly agree with your reply to that statement.

You can characterize it as "being against giving away the store" or whatever other way you want, but tariffs and trade quotas are still protectionism. Duncan Hunter advocates ending NAFTA and the 35-70% subsidy Chinese goods enjoy. I'm with him on both. Further, if it takes trade quotas to retain a steel industry capable of making components critical to national defense, that positive externality so warrants, especially when foreign competition benefits from subsidies.
