The walrus got carried away by a fox, an arctic fox.

Which one of us hasn't fantasized about that?

The Baculum is a unique bone found in the penis of most mammals. This bone aids in copulation when mates have only a short encounter and need to perform quickly. The Baculum is sometimes referred to a “hillbilly or mountain man toothpick” and can be utilized as a coffee stirrer. The largest Baculum in the mammal kingdom belongs to the walrus, which can reach a length of 30 inches.

I have a custom knife with an oosik handle. My daughter refers to it as walrus wanker.

This is not a mere joke. If this is true, the bone had to have gotten there through a human agency.

It suggests the possibility that the Vikings were not the first settlers of Iceland as we've always been told.

I hope the Hillbilly union protests your statement that they pick their teeth and stir their coffee with penis bones.

On a more serious note, he was probably carried there by a Tsunami..
Or an Eskimo..
As I recall, those things are believed to have certain religious properties that made them valuable..
It might have been part of a fertility ritual..

"This bone aids in copulation when mates have only a short encounter and need to perform quickly."

Which is most married couples with kids, in-laws, two jobs and a house payment -- and the big, fat walrus laying around on a beach all day gets the help. Go figure. Life is NOT logical.

At least the poor sod who probably carved it into a flute didn't know it was a walrus wiener.

If his friends had found out it would be constant, "Hey Thorg. Remember that time Orbo carved a flute out of a walrus's piece and you were like, 'Dude! That's walrus dong'. And he was all 'Brong said it was a whale bone man'. And you were like 'Brong told me it was the walrus's unit! you've been jobbed!'"

IIRC, people from the far north used these things as ceremonial clubs, not sure if they are heavy enough for real use.

Isn't Iceland on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge?

Couldn't the land merely have risen with the walrus thingy laying there?
