Vermillion South Dakota. Check taxe rates, housing costs, and cost of living. Don’t go there if you need to work though. THere’s no jobs.

The industrious Dutch have strong enough dikes and clever enough engineering to survive a one meter rise in the oceans

Uh, the Dutch are going to be gone from Holland in a short time, leaving behind only Muslims.

The Muslims won't have a clue how to maintain the Netherlands dike and levee system, and will end up drowning, if they don't starve first when Dutch welfare dries up.

My hometown in Kansas is growing despite being so far away from big cities since it is next to the interstate and advertises on tv. It also has grown above 10,000 and seems to have reached a point that growth should continue.

That is becoming a big thing here...advertising towns on television.

But, there are many towns losing population, mainly in western Kansas. Central and eastern Kansas does much better because of easy highway access and more larger cities.

Wichita is a great town; in fact I just moved there (as a young person, but it has really great marks for living for all ages).

The city itself is still growing, not just suburbs, and is doing so in such a way there really are not that many really scary areas in town. We will see how things are 20 years from now though if the growth continues.

At least in my Kansas hometown, many young people, even those I am surprised at, eventually come back to raise a family or even stay after high school.

A lot leave (I did, but I love my town and miss it though I am only an hour away). But, a lot stay. That may be why it is growing very healthy while some tiny towns with nothing to offer in terms of jobs etc. are losing population quickly.

I may be Republican, but I wanted that idiot out myself. Mayor Brewer is just fine.

I do agree about the lack of attractions though. But hey, it is in Kansas.....other than Old Town, not much here unless you really dig.

If serious wagering is done on this subject, I am very confident in betting that New Orleans won’t last that long.
From where I sit I can promise that ONE more hurricane will make N.O. a ‘lost city’. More than one will erase the SE LA coast as it now exists.

Well, from what I can tell, Wichita doesn’t have the problem of other cities with regard to land area, since it pretty much is the only real incorporated community in Sedgwick County (places like OKC, Tulsa, and Kansas City and the Johnson County cities have little else to annex, for all intents and purposes), so it can keep growing... until it runs into Hutchinson. ;-D

What was wrong with Mayans, per se ? I wasn’t too enamored of his RINOesque predecessor, Bob Knight.

My theory on Western Kansas is that it is forever cursed by the Clutterbuck murders, and Truman Capote's prose.

Oddly enough, towns in Western Kansas are begging ILLEGALS to settle in their dying towns. This is the same tactic, btw, being undertaken by several towns in Southern Italy (especially in Calabria and Basilicata) that lost most of their population due first to emigration and then to migration to northern Italy.

Here's an article about free land in Kansas.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-02-08-land-cover_x.htm

If you're interested in finding out more, there are plenty of articles on the subject.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=kansas+towns+free+land&btnG=Google+Search

The article I read and posted (link) for you did not mention property taxes specifically, but referred to many free benefits, including job placement, cash incentives for families with children, etc..

I didn’t know about the ads. Is there a website for these towns as well?

"but then I realized...IT CAN’T BE WHITE PEOPLE’S FAULT! THERE AIN’T NO WHITE PEOPLE HERE!”

It is a great disservice to Black Americans who apply themselves, recognize that adversity is something that has to be overcome to move forward with life, are our neighbors, etc., that a significant number of africanhyphenamericans are born with a full deck of race cards ready to throw down at any time and for any reason. It does not help that, in addition to their fuehrers like the convicted liar Sharpton, they are exposed daily to vile misogynistic racist Crap so called music.

People should learn to prepare for the unexpected. I have a spare tire even though I don’t expect to have a flat. I have car insurance even though I don’t expect to have an accident. I do a lot of hunting and I usually hit what I am shooting at.

I learned to pray as a young child and still do several times a day. I try to treat everyone with respect because I want others to respect me. I will not respect anyone who intends to harm me or my family.

I’m curious to see how NYC ends up in the Geologic record.

Earth Withough People

You can also click on a timeline on how New York City would decay over time. Chilling, yet fascinating.
