“How about the Vikings?”
They were much too white to get any credit in this new age of inclusive history. So was Marco Polo, for that matter, but Italian names sound vaguely Hispanic to multi-cultists, so he can have a pass until someone finds an African or an Arab to whom they can credit the discovery.

They are already crediting the Chinese.

Thor Heyerdahl's expedition showed that intercontinental voyages and exploration predated the currently accepted thesis of "who discovered what!"
Egyptian Reed Boats, Polyenesian rafts, Viking long boats and the Space shuttle Endeavour all highlight mankinds urge to explore!
I visited the museum in Olso where a Viking long boat and Heyerdahl's Kon Tiki reside. Wow!

La découverte de l'Amérique est attribuée à Christophe Colomb, en 1492. ≠ The discovery of America is allotted to Christophe Colomb, in 1492. Babelfish?

The fact is fairly well known. There are thousands of children who celebrate the event in swimming pools all across America.
One will solemnly call out “Marco” and the other children will respond “Polo”. Some believe this quasi religous ritual began in California and as it crossed the country took on the aspects of a game.

Native American Indians “discovered” America. Who “discovered” is really irrelevant.

There have been digs on the east coast where artifacts show man traveled here from Europe 20,000 yrs ago. Time has a way of hiding history.

It would not be surprising that a sophisticated ship-building civilization would notice the existence of an island chain and follow it to Alaska. But Alaska having the climate that it does, it’s also not surprising that they had little interest in the real estate

How about the Vikings?Marco Polo discovered them as well.

How does one “discover” a continent that already had 20,000,000 people living on it? Just because Europeans didn't know the continent existed doesn't mean that they discovered anything. Morons and revisionist historians at work here (and probably spending your tax dollars to do it)

Yeah but Al Gore invented Marco.

Don't be silly. There were far more than 20 million people in the Americas and not a single one of them knew where he or she might be.
Christopher Columbus discovered the Eastern and Western Hemispheres although he didn't realize it at the time.
