Humans cause volcanos. Al just hasn’t figured out how yet.

I heard an interview with a scientist who said that millions of sea floor volcanic vents have a role in warming of the ocean that is still totally ignored by climate modelers.

To your list, please also add the tides, that is plural. The primary tide is from the moon, but if we have just been granted a worry-license of 1/1000 of an inch by eminent scientists, we really need to list all the planets that could cause a tide by at least that amount.

In August of 1987, we had the Great Harmonic Convergence. On December 10, 2006, we had a triple conjunction, where Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter came within 1 degree of each other. I wonder what the effect on the sea surface was.

***It’s really the mole people getting ready to launch flying saucers from their under-icesheet base to take over the world... but you didn’t hear it here. ;-)***

Those bases are inside the hollow earth and the opening is in the ARTIC! Ths Antartic hole is plugged with ICE.

Oh.

apparently it wasn’t plugged 2000 years ago.. whatever happened to that latest expedition to the hollow earth opening anyway? probably working for the Kucinich campaign

“Ths Antartic hole is plugged with ICE.”

You ever seen that for yourself? Have you? Huh?

I’ll let you in on a little secret. The Giant Snake-headed People started that bit of propaganda in conjunction with the Nazis when they (the evil socialist utopianist guys with stompy boots) stumbled into the opening in the earth to their (the Giant Snake-headed People) realm while they (the evil socialist utopianists..not the commies, the other ones) were exploring the Antarctic.

The bad guys (the human ones with the grotesquely misanthropic social philosophy, not the ones with really big snake heads) were looking for flying saucers. They* didn’t find any because they* didn’t have any left after they crash landed here while in transit from Alpha Centauri.

* = evil humans with really stupid and mass murdery ideology which resembles the other really stupid, mass murdery oriented ideology, but is different. Except where it means non humans with really big, scary looking snake heads.

Oops, missed a biggie there! You're right with respect to the planets too. Another thought occurs to me in that all rain starts as evaporation from the oceans which travels it's way thru the "water cycle" back to the oceans eventually (if I remember my 8th grade general science). Some years are there is less rain (deeper ocean??) some years there is more. The ice sheets can be looked at as just a storage element in the water cycle, just temporally impounding water which will ultimately flow back to the seas during warmer eons.

Another point, as the continents are in motion they not only move along the surface of the mantel. They also raise and subsume, especially along the edges of the continental plates (where else would you measure "sea level"?). That denies us a stable datum from which to measure "sea level".

Regards,
GtG

C'mon youse guys... You must know this is what caused the fountains of the deep to erupt and the waters to lift an old man's strange zoo vessel on flood waters for 40 days and 40 nights, don'tcha???

The thing is still a huge pile of rotting "shittim wood" sittin up on Mt. Ararat in Turkey, right?

C'mon... I'm not kiddin around here!!! I'm series!!! It's hugh!!! I'd rather worship this idea than stupid algourd's globular warping!!!

It was Lucifer upchucking his innards finding out that God had sent his son to redeem the inhabitants of the Earth. 2000 years ago would have put it right at the same period.

""It may be possible that heat from the volcano has caused some of that acceleration," says BAS professor David Vaughan, who stresses though that global warming is by far the greater likelier cause."

Ahem, careful there old boy, you could lose your grant.

Crete is in a seismically unstable region and it may be more likely that those stairs were involved in land subsidence rather than sea=level rises.

NO.

60 Minutes will not be seen this Sunday, Jan. 20. Taking its place will be CBS News Presents: “The Age Of Warming”

Nowhere is the evidence of global warming as striking than near the earth’s poles. CBS News correspondent Scott Pelley’s report brings him to the top and the bottom of the world, where scientists point out the effects of the warming trend. He also speaks to NASA’s top scientist studying climate, who says the Bush administration has restricted what he can say about global warming.

An all-new edition of 60 Minutes returns on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

A scientific report that some water surface rose 1/1000 of an inch is, upon even quick reflection, almost bizarre. This is really projection of self-loathing by a person who is more motivated by an emotional or ideological agenda far more than by any real science. Even common sense shows that the number we are supposed to be worrying about is just plain statistical noise.

This is the university equivalent of the reporter saying that something was “about 1 mile away” and the newspaper style editor inserting the number of meters in 1 mile to the 4th decimal place.

When I saw the title earlier I thought it said volcano EXPLODED YESTERDAY and I couldn’t find the courage to read the story...

I always liked the book "We are not the first." It is a collection of findings like the one inch thick green glass found under the sands of the Gobi desert which imply either an ancient nuclear bomb creating identical glass as found at the above ground test sites in NM and NV, or caused by meteroites exploding in the atmosphere just above the earth's surface.

The implications in the book are that man has struggled back from repeated devastations caused by repetitive cataclysmic events that have come extremely close to wiping out humanity, but that humanity is so adaptive that we recover just in time to get wiped out once again!!!

Each time, however, it takes less time for us to recoup our phenominal losses!!!

That would be the same volcano that messes with the ozone layer down there, yes?

Ozone? Come on! That's so 20th century. You can't take that stuff to the bank. It's all about carbon now. Just let go of the ozone.
