They are already preening Chelsea

I would vote for her because after all, she has 8 years of experience already being POTUS, by virtue of being the daughter of x42. /s

Doubtful. They would split the democrat vote, and lose to McCain. They can’t be stupid enough to think that won’t happen.

Maybe at this stage of the game, Bloomie’s figuring “Hey, why not be a spoiler?”

This is impossible because the Democrat convention is September 1-4. This is when Hillary officially robs Obama. September 4th is too late to start registering your party in 50 states. You might be able to get on the ballot in 10 or 15

No sane person would vote for Bloomberg. He’s the metrosexual version of Ross Perot.

No matter who the nominee is, the Democrats and liberals are smart enough to line up to support him/her.

I'm not so sure. Say you're black and tired of the Democratic plantation taking you for granted. Now comes Obama and the Clintons change all the rules and steal the nomination from him. How many blacks are going to suck it up and vote for the beast? I'm thinking that a lot of blacks will rethink their blind allegiance to the Rats. The GOP had better open its arms and welcome blacks into the fold as equals instead of patronizing them and taking them for granted like the Rats have.

BUMP what you said.
Obama is basically telling Clinton, “Don’t steal my nomination from me.”

And the door would be wide open for a real third party shot. A fractured dem party with H KKKlintler as its candidate vs John the “Maverick(TM)” McCain vs Obama with a totally sane person as a running mate and without the baggage of the rat party... I’d HAVE to vote for the Obama/Bloomberg ticket.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing that Obama would actually do this. I think he'd be more likely to wait four years and then cruise to victory after the spectacular failure of a Clinton or McCain term.

You're most likely right, but such a threat makes for some pretty heavy leverage come the convention. This is just more subterfuge in the internal power struggle and intrigues taking place behind the scenes at the DNC.

But nervous rats makes for good television. I'll go get the popcorn...

Or maybe, he thinks that by going third-party there is a good chance of no candidate winning a majority of the Electoral College, thus moving the election to the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives.

I think this is more of a shot over the bow of Clinton ship and those Democratic Super delegates.
That's the way it strikes me, too.

Neither party looks to be truly united coming out of their convention. If there isn't a third-party candidacy in this election, it's kinda hard to see when one might ever succeed. There are dozens and dozens of billionaires in this country; all it takes is one - Ross Perot did it, of course - who decides to take matters in hand and run for POTUS or, as in this scenario, VP. And the Constitution/SCOTUS mean that no regulation prevents them from contributing a $ billion to such a joint campaign.

So at least the floating of this scenario is a natural counter to all the "by any means" talk about how the Clintons' ruthlessness makes her nomination inevitable. This rumor isn't exactly calculated to reduce Bloomberg's standing with black voters in NYC, either . . .

I agree with you. The blacks are either going to stay home if HBeast steals this one or vote for Mcain.

I don’t think Kennedy, Kerry and the rest of the democratic establishment would take too kindly to this. Obama would lose a lot of friends and support if he did this. I don’t believe this is gonna happen—but I hope it does because it will split the dems and give McPain a better chance to win the election. Why can’t I get excited when I say that? ~sigh~

I doubt it strongly. Such a move would finish Obama in the Dem party, while if he bides his time, he’s still young enough to try again in 4 to 8 years
