"Yeah, I have a hard time believing that Obama would actually do this."

Ask any former AMWAY dreamer how easy it is to follow a dream, and what they'll do to achieve it.

Does anyone know how to link a few episodes of Steve Martin’s “Leap of Faith” to this thread?/ The one where it says “Give up your Kenmore washer and dryer” would be appropriate. Obama is a revival tent preacher. He has not a clue.

We have the “snacks” ready for the Clinton/Obama debate Monday night in Austin per CNN.

He always (jmo) seems to turn just a tad away from her during debates. Curious to see if I notice the same stance in Austin.

The news showed a aerial shot of the secret meeting (obviously not so secret) between Obama and Edwards meeting and they hugged.
Hmmmm wonder if he hugged Hillary in their (not so) secret meeting.

I think Bloomberg’s worth $6 billion. Wow.

This is pretty much a rumor...started by the Hillary camp, I’m betting.

I have no doubt that Bloomberg is on the short list of people for VP...but the chances of some 3rd party coming in and taking enough electoral votes to win...pretty much a zero.

The logistics could be problematic. In most states, the Democratic nominee is automatically on the November ballot by virtue of the party’s past performance in elections (a party that brings in a minimum percentage is guaranteed to be on the next ballot). A new party or an independant candidate must get on the ballot by submitting a petition before a certain deadline (the number of names and the deadline varies from state to state). It was a major undertaking for Perot to pull this off in the summer of 1992. Will there be enough time between the Democratic Convention and the ballot deadlines for an Obama/Bloomberg team to get on the ballot in every state?

“”Wow! A train wreck for the Dems is in the making.””

Not necessarily. If Obama/Bloomberg were to win enough states in the general election such that no one could enough electoral votes to win it, the election would go to the House of Represntatives...where Democrats would elect Hillary.

The issue is problematic for the GOP because if Obama/Bloomberg didn’t run, many voters would stay home and the GOP might do well in House & Senate races. But if they do run, all of those voters will, indeed, come out and probably vote for Dems in the House & Senate.

The Democrats are imploding!

I won't believe it until I see the bodies pieces strewn everywhere at the Democrat national convention.

Sheer idiocy. Obama is 46 and wants to be president. If he doesn’t make it this time then there is 4 or 8 years down the road. Independent candidates for president don’t win, and if he jumps ship in 08 then he’ll never have a chance for the Democratic nomination in the future. He’d be cutting his own throat by doing something this stupid. And he may be many things but stupid is not one of them.

I am extremely sceptical that:
1-Bloomberg is going to give away a Billion dollars.
2-Obiwan will leave the RAT party to go off on his own.

Meanwhile, everyone has assumed that Hellary is beaten, even though she has very large leads in TX, PA and OH. Just when you think the KKKlintons have lost, they win.

I thought Bloomberg with Hagel in tow was more of a front for McCain, but honestly I’m not sure what his game is.

I'm not sure either, but remember that Hagel was going to run for president until he approached a top Rep campaign manager who bluntly told him to forget it and focus on getting reelected to the Senate which was far from a done deal.

Apparently Hagel took a few internal polls, found out he wasn't going to be reelected, and dropped out of all races. It's kind of a corollary to Kerry "picking" Edwards as a running mate when Edwards knew he couldn't get reelected in his own state--and he couldn't even deliver that state in the general.

Does someone behind the scenes force bad choices on candidates to engineer a defeat to keep the next race open (Hillary on Kerry/Edwards) or perhaps to promote someone who will cram an elite-favored program down our throats (Amnesty)? I don't know, but the deeply stupid choices made by people who should know better and which are NOT determined by voters certainly raise questions.

In any case Obama is now an overwhelmingly superior choice for Bloomberg since he has surprised everyone with his success and popularity. Add to that the outrage if the Botch steals it from him.

Almost anything could happen if this situation comes about. McCain and Bloomberg could split left and moderate Republicans while Hillary and Obama split left Rats. That leaves half of each split going to O/Bloomie plus the general air heads, goo-goo ahos who are getting religious about Obama and people on both sides who are sick, tired and outraged at how the entrenched political class controls our choices.

If center right and conservatives say, "None of the Above" for president and just concentrate on electing good solid real Republicans for House, Senate and local races, it would be possible to see the race come out Obambam/Bloomie #1, Hillary a distant second and McCain an almost invisible third. Not saying that's good or even likely, just possible, and IF we manage to get enough good Reps in the House and Senate to keep a brake on the Executive branch, might not be too bad for 4 years.

This is impossible because the Democrat convention is September 1-4. This is when Hillary officially robs Obama. September 4th is too late to start registering your party in 50 states. You might be able to get on the ballot in 10 or 15

Good point, but what if Bloomie invests a couple hundred million (pocket change) in hiring 50 teams to get an Independent Party on all the ballots just in time even if he ends up not running?

Perot told his fans he'd run if THEY did the leg work and investment in getting the party on the ballots. Bloomie can streamline that procedure without a noticeable (to him) cost.

Do you know what states have the earliest deadlines for getting on the ballots? If it starts getting too late to make it in more than a couple states and Bloomie hasn't acted, then you have the proof of your statement (which is pretty likely I think).

Obama will get the nomination, and Hildy will what's left of her soul to him to be his running mate, expecting to be first in succession...

Bill will approve.

The GOP had better open its arms and welcome blacks into the fold as equals instead of patronizing them and taking them for granted like the Rats have.

Great. The GOP is trading the conservatives for the blacks.

Bloomberg has the money but he doesn't have the time. 3rd parties are hard to set up so late on September 4th 2008 with election November 4 2008 . Every state has its own election laws and off the top of my head only 10-15 will allow a 3rd party to dive in so late. Millions of dollars cannot cure this

I was with Perot and I watched Ralph Nader
Nader is the expert at 3rd party efforts and knows the ins and outs of each state

>>>”No sane person would vote for Bloomberg, the metrosexual version of Ross Perot”>>>

Don’t count on that, there are still Perot supporters out there who do not admit that they were ‘duped by him’ and would vote for Perot again if he ran.

This could explain why Mrs Obama said last week that BHO is only planning on doing this one time, in 2008

I’ll bet you can hear a lot of rumors on the street—but if this is the most reliable one that Armstrong can find, he ought to put his tin foil hat on before going outside.
