A guy on the Science Channel said last night that if/when the ice is exposed to the atmosphere, it will likely turn immediately to a gaseous state. That's why they have that little drill attached inside the bucket of the little backhoe. To get to the ice/water before it dissipates.
Is that correct?

Map of Barsoom, how many people here read Edger Rice Burroughs books? Or ever heard of him?(Wildly gesticulating from the back of the class)
"Me. Me! Pick me!"
(Might be the only point I get in these classes!)

Whoops! I didn’t scan down far enough.
I too started off with John Carter, but then gravitated more to the more technologically realistic SF of Asimov, Heinlein, and Clark; McCaffrey’s dragons and similar fantasy didn’t do it for me. I recall sitting up and watching Walt and the Moon landing, along with my wife’s 89yo Grandfather; he and I thought we’d be putting a Man on Mars now, instead of just a robot.
Thanks for the info and threads, Kevin.

Spin, Crash, Burn, Die. It's important to get things in the right order. That's what checklists are for.
Kudos for NASA for making it to the ground in one piece.
GO AMERICA!

takeoffs vs landings = unity. After that, everything else is gravy.

These liberals are working sooo hard to try and prove earth is NOT unique So what do you intend to do if life is discovered on Mars, or elsewhere in the universe? Denying the existence of a living organism is a little harder than denying a theory as to to how it got there.

They truly believe that they are superior - arrogant beyond belief. A classic example is Colmes of the Hannity/Colmes program. They have absolutely no understanding of the real world here in America or though out the planet and they have infected our society to the point where if left alone, they will destroy this great country and us along with it. The really sad part is that the majority of Americans understand this and yet a general apathy appears to have gripped us while we look on, with mouths open, shaking our heads in disbelief. Only a truly strong leader can pull us of this, one who doesn't give a damn about political parties and will talk directly to the people. IMO

Yep that is my take also. I don't see any conflict with my faith in God if we find life somewhere else in the Universe. But today on FOX I believe it was Bill Nye the Science Guy saying “If we find life on Mars this will change our world completely”. It was like he was reading lines from something scripted out a cheesy Scifi alien doomsday plot. When Mygen Kelly pressed him how it would change everything all he could do was reiterate the line that everything would drastically change. All I could do is sigh and go what a dweeb.

These liberals are working sooo hard to try and prove earth is NOT unique...trying to disprove The Bible....and The Father who created the universe. The words don't exists to adequetly capture the nature of the rubbish of your statement. It's sad when Bible humpers have to disrupt threads about some of the greatest technological achievements of this nation with their insubstantial anti-science rhetoric.
