I agree. It’s funny because some of us DOD contractors were talking about the “what if” scenario if the obamination was to get elected. We kind of think that there will be a massive exodus of general offices handing in retirement papers and even company grade officers not re-upping.

Powell is not a good choice... Way too liberal and McCain already has more than enough military experience. Other than race, he would ad nothing to the ticket. There are several African American conservatives out there who do much better than Powell.... J. C. Watts for instance.

No problem with Powell. However it would look cynical, given the black RAT candidate. Sarah Palin would be a far more dynamic pick, so long as she avoided Quayle-like gaffes. She would certainly give the outcast Hillary supporters another reason to back our guy.

“I really don’t get the hate for powell.”

well, one scary thing is that all the word is that he’s been about to endorse B. Hussein Obama - amazed he hasn’t officially already. you know, he’s not really that conservative. but I’ve been hearing the BHO endorsement thing for about 6 weeks now. Dunno - if JSM can snatch him up, that’d probably be a good thing for the “wow” factor.

heck, I even read that Powell may show up at the Dem. Convention this week - guess that’d really tell us where his loyalties lie!

Powell is 71yo though...

Yup, age is the factor that kills squashes this idea.

Powell's birthdate is April 5, 1937.

John McCain's birthdate is August 29, 1936.

Being born in different terms in the Roosevelt Adminstration does not provide sufficient age diversity for the ticket.

I have met him twice. J.C. Watts is dumb as board. Plus he has said he is considering voting for Obama. So f**k him.

Powell is a liberal pretty much across the board.

I will not vote for an abortion lover. It would leave us with two major parties that were both pro-abortion.

I cannot understand anyone who claims to be a conservative who thinks that abortion is not a big deal. The right to life is the most basic right guaranteed by our Constitution. And killing babies is not something that can be condoned.

Not only that, but abortion is a losing issue at the polls. Why does Obama feel it necessary to lie about his abortion record? Because he knows it is a political loser.

Conservatism is dead if the fiscal conservatives and libertarians start thinking that abortion, family, and marriage are no big deals. Without a conservative coalition working together, the liberals take over the country and stay in power for decades.

This would be a huge mistake.

Powell is too much RINO and I think he cut down the current administration way more than necessary. I’m not crazy for Powell. Can’t John McCain find someone to the right of himself?

For goodness sakes, how many times has Colin Powell said that he is NOT INTERESTED in elective office?

This article is just blowing smoke.

I like Condi, but she has never ran for an elected office.

Whether we like these sort of politics or not, it is what we have gotten stuck with. A qualifed female, and we have many on the conservative side, would go far to draw voters over to McCain, who isn’t exactly the conservatives first choice.

Colin Powell is a great American patriot and would lock it up for McCain.

What color Kook-Aid are you drinking these days? Powell would NOT help anything, he would be a mistake as a running mate and he's TOO dang old.

I am not making this up:

Robert Byrd
