What the Barney is saying loud and clear: NO ONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS!.....We need republicans to blame.

It's almost funny seeing the DEMs supporting the prerogative of a Bush cabinet secretary OVER that of the Congress. They are crying croc tears that Paulson is being undercut. I hear tell Paulson's one of theirs anyway.

I'm an economics novice, so I have been trying to follow all this stuff with difficulty. But my absolute favorite politician is my congressman. He's a House GOPer with a 100% ACU rating, and his expertise is finance. Last email he sent expressed initial skepticism. Waiting for a new email to see what he says. Basically, I trust him.

Be interesting to see how it all plays out. At least it ain't boring.

Considering Frank was one of the Congressmen who ridiculed pleas to reform GSE’s and the security markets for years, and with Dodd is one of the 2 people most responsible for the current crisis, why should anyone take him seriously now. I like the “revolt” and the GOP counter proposal. So far Bernanke has been a complete disaster as Fed Chairman and I have little faith in Paulson or his Dimwit buddies. $700 billion will be just the tip of the ice berg and won't solve the problem; but it will create more problems including higher interest rates, a decimated dollar, and massive inflation.

So far the world still has faith in the US dollar as shown by the massive moves into short term treasury notes. I fear that if this bailout passes, we will still have the financial meltdown coupled with a massive dollar meltdown.

If McCain can pull this off, he'll have the election sewn up.

If the Democrats feel so strongly about it, they could pass it over the objections of the House Republicans, so they are just as much to blame for the lack of progress on the bailout.

The Dems want the Republicans to vote for the measure too, so that later the Reps can't complain about all the earmarks without being hammered with "But you voted for it!"

If it passes with just Dem votes, then everybody will see the earmarks and Dem corruption.

The media has a facination with coverups so they should be all over this, I guess it has to be Republican misconduct to peak their interest. The slime is oozing from every crack and crevice so they might not be able to avoid it. I’m wondering how long it will take Barney to get the dreaded vapors.

While there are enough Dems to pass, (majority), there are not enough Dems who are willing to vote against their constituents, they are all up for re-election in the House here in just over a month. They need Republican votes to give cover to members who will absolutely lose the seat should they vote for the cr** bill, that's what has Frank's thong in a snag.

Barney Frank is one of the architects of this disaster. That he should have any part in solving it is a disgrace. He should be ridden out of DC on a rail.

The number 1 complaint about Bush - that he would rather work with his enemies than his friends.

Folks. This is like the immigration bill times TEN. Call your congressmen and Senators and tell them how you feel. Don't let Fagot legislators who have the ear of the press tell the American public how we feel. Flood the phone lines. They are ramming it down our throats AGAIN!

I was thrilled to hear Lindsey Graham point out that ACORN would have received billions in Dodd’s version of the agreement. We need more of that. C’mon McCain and Repubs, let’s hear naming of names and quoting of quotes — such as Bawney Fwank scoffing at FM/FM reforms. Start holding up back issues of the Slimes so the MSM can’t refute it.

“The number 1 complaint about Bush - that he would rather work with his enemies than his friends.”....

And he has done that very well with continued massive government expansion....

This is going to blowback on the Dems. The people *don’t want* a 700 billion bailout. So, Barney Frank going on TV and saying “It’s the GOP’s fault that the bill didn’t pass”....is a bad idea for the Dems.

Oh boy....if it were only true that his smarmy past is about to catch up to him...I just wish that were so....and the reason that won't be happening is our blasted media...covering his butt for him like they have for years.

Just think, if they were so inclined, they could go for the full half hour of their nightly news....and tell about all his connection with the Street...about his complicity in the down fall of Fannie and Freddie, about his 10 year love affair with a guy that was high up in one of the Wall Street companies...this back at the time when there were those in Congress using Fannie and Freddie as their own little “piggy bank”, good old Barney and his buddy Dodd were right their getting theirs.

If I had my way those two crooks be be drummed out of their committees and thrown in jail....if you or I did 1/Th of what they have been up to, we'd be sitting in a cell right now...and I want to see these guys and anyone else that's had a hand in this mess made to PAY. I swear, there is NOTHING that pushes my button like the appearance of Barney and/or Dodd in front of a microphone trying to lay all this on the Rep. and the ‘greedy” capitalists....just a good thing I'm not in the room with them. ...damned hypocrites. By the way, I'm not about to give the Republicans a pass on this either...the problems that have brought this to a head at this time were there for anyone to see, if they wanted to, back when the Republicans were "calling the shots"....probably some crooks among them, but mostly they're just a bunch of spineless do "nothings", that except for aversion to stand up for something..this could have been avoided, but for the lack of spine and perhaps character...maybe?

I'll settle for handcuffs myself. He'd get too much enjoyment from riding a rail.

“the Democrats have enough votes to pass ANYTHING they want”....

Yes, but there aren't enough House Dems in that majority willing to lose their seat come THIS November.

Barney will find himself back in the Senate Minority real soon.

You mean House minority, but that's not my point. I know what you meant.

Someone needs to remind America that Barney is the guy who pays his gay lover with taxpayer money.

The GOP members of both Houses of Congress should demand an investigation into Treasury Secretary Paulson IMHO. He hired Obama supporters to be his right hand people after his appointment. This may go down as Pres Bush’s worst appointment ever as Paulson is selling out the Party that put him in office.

And he wouldn't also enjoy handcuffs?

Those of us who oppose the bailout should be glad that Barney F is the public face of this, if it were Obama, we'd have it shoved down our throats by now.

The toad would love to see that, too.
